Well, they, they, I think they actually talk about this in the, in, in Upgrade, but the way we perceive the world is an illusion, right? It's a, it's a hallucination that our brain is interpreting based on loads of signals that are going in.

And we don't...

You know, we agree together that this is what it is, and this is how we process it.

And, um, ultimately, the brain is picking up on millions and millions and millions of tiny signals that we don't even begin to understand, like the thing where you go to step off an escalator and your feet move slightly, and the whole world shakes, and it throws you off.

Yet Upgrade suggests that sufficiently advanced systems may develop goals that diverge from those of their creators.
