But what is your, um, impression on what happened with that class of drugs in chronic cough?
1:24
Yeah, so P2X3s and, and other mechanisms that have been studied in chronic cough have all been peripheral mechanisms in the lung, which makes sense.
1:32
Cough feels like a lung problem.
1:34
When Tom and I, my co-founder, as a neurologist, started Trevy, he had a different thesis as a neurologist, who kept saying to me 10 years ago, "Cough is a brain problem, not a lung problem." And you think about things like pain, you know, it originates in the brain.
1:49
What's interesting about our mechanism is it works not only peripherally in the lung, but centrally at the brain stem.
1:54
The brain stem mediates coughing and breathing.
1:57
And I think with the benefit of hindsight, it appears that that's gonna be sort of the key to managing these difficult to treat cough conditions.

Mm-hmm.
1:37
Tell me more about what your aim was when you took on this big endeavor and what you think has helped you to continue to build Trevi, what, 15 years later?
1:48
Yeah, takes a long time.
1:49
Well, first of all, thank you for having me.
1:51
I appreciate it.
1:52
Exciting time in the company.
1:54
So happy to share sort of some of the history and how we got here.
1:57
So I used to run a company called Penn West Pharmaceuticals, which was actually working in the whole chronic pain space.

When you think of like a day in the life of an IPF or ILD patient, what surprises most people about, you know, what these patients go through? I'm curious if there's a moment that's kind of hit you personally, you know, getting up close to understanding this patient community.
