Jenn Wasner

Prior to Garefowl, we had Flock of Dions.

This is a project of Jen Wasner, ex of Y Oak, from a new compilation, Maximum Minnesota, out on Sub Pop Records.

Various bands covering classic Minnesota artists.

We heard Flock of Dions covering Especially Me by Low, of course.

...

Jen and Jake.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Yeah, you did that [laughs].

It was me.

There was, um, obviously the two primary members of Sylvan Esso making this record, but, um, just in that, uh, answer then, there was the reference to Daniel and to TJ, I think Jen and Jake as well.

Um, the collaborators across this record are a little bit wild.

Mm-hmm.

And we had our friends Jen Wasner and Jake Lupien in the studio with us, and we were just like, we walked in after breakfast, and we're like, "Okay, what can we do?" And then we started-

And I, for, like, the hundredth time, was like, "What about this thing-"

Yeah

Mm-hmm

... with some really loud guitars played by Jen Wasner of Flock of Dimes and Wye Oak.

Oh, genius.

And I think that just shocked a lot of people 'cause they're like, "This is not Sylvan Esso," but it so is.
