The crash of Air China Flight 129 was the worst air crash on South Korean soil to date, a title it would hold until the crash of Jeju Flight 2216 in 2024.

Air China immediately got to work implementing major safety reforms to ensure that something like this would never happen again.

Crucially, they introduced much more comprehensive training for circling approaches, emphasising the need for prescribed airspeeds and for strict adherence to the circling radius.
