But Apple's got this fitness ecosystem, right? And the Apple Watch has been the key to it.

He says the project has support from Eddie Q, who is now in charge of Apple Health.

He took over after Jeff Williams retired last year.

And our old friend Tim Cook is apparently very interested in the product.

So Garmin has reported like on and off that Apple is looking at different wearable form factors, different fitness tracking form factors.

The project is said to have support from top Apple executives, including Eddy Cue and Tim Cook.

Notably, Cue took charge of Apple's health team last October following the departure of Jeff Williams.

Cue has pushed Apple's health team to adopt features from newer rivals like Whoop and Oura, whose products offer simpler interfaces focused squarely on fitness and health tracking.

Products like the Whoop band and Oura Ring are popular among people who want to track their health and fitness without wearing a smartwatch.

And so Tim Cook knew that he wanted to take a step back.

Jeff Williams, the number two, the COO, knew he wanted to retire.

The CFO, Luca Manistri, he wanted to retire.

The general counsel, Kate Adams, she wanted to retire.

He's replaced by the new CFO, Kevin Perrette.

Then 2025 rolls around.

They have Jeff Williams, the COO.

He retires, replaced by his deputy, Salvi Khan.

You have Greg Joswiak who, you know, is apple- running Apple's marketing.

You had Jeff Williams who thankfully decided to th- you know, I've made a l- bunch of money, let's go t- spend some time with my family.

But to be the person who the Apple board of directors and Tim Cook picked to run this company, this has to be a very special person who they have the utmost confidence in.

Because up until a few years ago, John Turnus was relatively under the radar.

It's Jeff Williams standing on a promontory on the Pacific Coast somewhere talking about the Apple Watch all alone on a boulder or something, right? but not this.

This is, and then they actually hung a lantern on it to use a showbiz phrase when they went to the back lot, the studio back lot.

But even before they get there, everywhere at Apple Park where people are presenting and elsewhere, there are people in the background.

And this is all about the, you know, you've got long-time CFO Luca Maestri, who you always hear on the earnings calls, he stepped down at the end of 2024.

And then Jeff Williams was the chief operating officer, the new Tim Cook, basically.

He left at the end of 2025.

Then we have general counsel, Kate Adams, the great environmental chief, Lisa Jackson, who I thought was just excellent for Apple.
