Jeff Shipley

Okay, let's get a quick update on an item that we discussed a couple weeks ago, which was very funny.

Jeff Shipley's body cam video.

You know, one of the greatest events of the year for me.

I was so happy to see that.

Monday night was October 12th, so someone made a mistake here.

To address what she described as a council member using their digital platform to spread false and harmful allegations about her family.

Raina Lynn Shipley, a lifelong Fairfield area resident whose family roots in the community go back multiple generations and who is the wife of Iowa House District 87 incumbent Representative Jeff Shipley, told the council that council member Bob Ferguson had recently used social media to validate and endorse what she characterized as malicious lies, including an implication that she is a victim of domestic abuse and a suggestion that her family was guilty of child endangerment.

Do they even talk about the body cam in this article? I don't think they do.

Coming up next on Southeast Iowa Today, the Meet the Candidates Forum from the Fairfield Arts and Convention Center, hosted by the Fairfield Area Chamber of Commerce.

You'll hear from Jefferson County supervisor candidates, Republican incumbent Lee Dimmitt, and independent challenger Jerry Leonard, followed by Iowa House District 87 candidates, Republican incumbent Jeff Shipley, and Democrat challenger Thomas O'Donnell.

Get informed before election day.

Stay right there.

Here's the author of Kristi's Journey: The Beat Goes On, and your host, me, John Bain.

It's Tuesday, October 13th, 2026.

I'm at the Fairfield Arts and Convention Center in Fairfield, Iowa, where the Fairfield Area Chamber of Commerce is holding a Meet the Candidates Forum featuring candidates for Jefferson County Supervisor, independent Jerry Leonard and Republican incumbent Lee Dimmitt, and candidates for District 87, Democrat Thomas O'Donnell and Republican District 87 incumbent Jeff Shipley.

Also, as part of the presentation this evening, the $24.8 million Fairfield general obligation bond referendum for the Fairfield Community School District.

The Mount Pleasant Area Chamber Alliance Government Relations Committee and the Mount Pleasant Community School District held a candidate forum for districts 87 and 95.

It was moderated by Rachel Lindeen, VP of the Chamber Alliance, and, uh, candidates on hand were Republican incumbent for District 87, Jeff Shipley, and his opponent, Democrat Thomas O'Donnell, and Democrat candidate for District 95, Kerry Trevino.

Republican incumbent Taylor Collins was unable to attend.

Good evening, everybody.

Go ahead, Jeff.

Oh.

Well, so hello, Jeff Shipley here.

Uh, thank you to the chamber, and thank you to the school district, uh, for having us tonight.

Yeah, it's absolutely the same thing.

Uh, oh, yeah, uh, Representative Jeff Shipley, who is, of course, one of the most principled members of the-

[laughs]

... state legislature, he also voted in favor of this, which I guess, [sighs] I guess that's to be expected.

And I think there's a-

Learned that one from Jeff Shipley, huh?

Yeah, definitely.

Mm-hmm.

Okay.

You know? Like kind of like...

Jeff Shipley I think would be a contender for finals for sure.

Mm-hmm.
