In 1997, Blade formed the fellowship band with pianist John Coward, bassist Chris Thomas, saxophonist Myron Walden and Melvin Butler, guitarist Jeff Parker, and pedal steel guitarist Dave Easley.

The band released its debut album in 1998.

Blending folkloric references, hints of church and spiritual concerns, jazz modality, and countrified touchstones.

The last thing I actually bought was by the jazz guitarist Jeff Parker.

It's called Mondays at the Enfield Tennis Academy.

by Jeff Parker, who is the guitarist in Tortoise, a legendary post-rock band, and then plays this sort of jazz fusion-y type stuff now, kind of jazz ambient post-rock fusion stuff.

And he's really interesting because he does a lot of live releases.

These folks are pros who've worked for pop stars and jazz innovators all over town.

Those include a couple of the names are Olivia Rodrigo and Jeff Parker.

Jeff Parker is a guy who has a sort of a free floating collective that he runs out of L.A., which is also really good.

But SML here is these folks' vehicle collection.

to truly let their freak flag fly.

And I do that.

It's usually loads and loads and loads of one hour at Alice or John Coltrane or Miles Davis or who else? Or the new people like Jeff Parker or Newberg Garcia, the Chicago scene or the London scene.

Because I do feel they prepare the room and I write to jazz.
