Jeff Parker

Let's jump into today's conversation.

[on-hold music] Welcome to this episode of Planning the Wild and, of course, this season, season three, we are focusing on shared stewardship for recreation, so I'm really happy to welcome our guest today, Jeff Parker from Northwest Youth Corps.

Jeff is the president and CEO of Northwest Youth Corps based in Eugene, Oregon.

He holds a BA in political science from the University of Washington and a Master of Environmental Science from The Evergreen State College.

But also just being able to stay in touch with breeders, you know, across the UK and around the world.

Yeah, I mean, in the early days, you know, I was exchanging letters with Jeff Parker a lot, Kevin Dowrick a lot, Clive Carefoot a lot.

And I've still got those letters, you know, I've held on to them.

I'm not sure why, but.

So it's... probably it's how it's evolved but I think why did I stick with the rocks and have done for so long I think you start to develop you know you win certain things at the club show you're competing with certain people you've put time and effort into that and and the more years you do it and what condenses together doesn't it so it's like I became to you know to inherit some of the some of the things that maybe had sat on Clive Carefoot's shoulders because I was just always with barred rocks and stuff.

And then I actually got my buff rocks, the first buff rocks in 1992.

I got Jeff Parker's last four birds.

And he'd just come off the back winning champion heavy breed at the national.
