But what is DMT actually doing to the brain? How is it affecting our monoamines like serotonin, dopamine? What are we actually experiencing?
33:31
Cool.
33:31
So in order to kind of explain that, we have to understand like what is DMT even for, right? Because it's in our bodies already.
33:37
All animals, all plants, all humans have DMT.
33:40
And it's hidden behind the eye sockets.
33:42
It's in the eyes.
33:43
It's in the lining of the lungs.

There's no,
2:28
And maybe if you could start with telling us a little bit, you know, how you made this journey into plant medicine.
2:35
I'd love to.
2:36
Thank you so much for having me on your podcast.
2:38
I'm excited to explain a little bit what we're doing and kind of how I got here.
2:42
You know, it's a pretty interesting story, I think.
2:44
So I studied medical anthropology as an undergrad.
2:48
And that's what kind of turned me on a little bit to this cultural side of health care and medicine.

22 MINS LATER

24:41
Um, so maybe could you, uh, go ahead and contrast it to the types of plant medicine and, you know, um, i'm an herbologist of sorts that's here on the farm where it's a little niche uh boutique herb farm we'll call it medicinal herbs and i my approach to herbology is uh because i grow everything i like to really get to know the plant from seed all the way up and i found that plants have a certain personality so i don't know if this is something that you could answer but uh If you had that, well, one question at a time, maybe a little contrast in the types of plant medicine, and then maybe we can delve into who's this ayahuasca person and what kind of spirit is
92:05
And, and this is kind of a, a big question, but, but from, from your years of working at, at Rythmia and, and then also because it, it seems like you're a voracious reader of, of literature, what w- what would you say are the, the, the benefits of ayahuasca? Uh, you know, I'm sure a lot of that has even evolved in, in, in the time you, you've been there, but what, what is ayahuasca for you? What, what are the benefits that, that, that you see, that you've, you've felt not only for yourself but all the people that, that you've seen come through and, and also what the, the literature seems to be pointing to?
92:39
to?So the literature is looking a lot at the health things that are remedied by ayahuasca.
92:45
As a medical facility, um, obviously we can't make medical claims, but I can talk about, of course, what the guests report that they're having happen for them.
92:56
So what I've looked at in the literature that matches what the guests are saying is that a lot of the autoimmune conditions are, are really improved or eradicated with ayahuasca.
93:06
Ayahuasca is a, um, it's an anti-inflammatory, and so it really helps with, uh, disease and illness as well.
93:15
Lyme's disease.
93:16
We have the, the president of the Lyme's Association, he's from Southern Cal, he comes to Rythmia because he cured his Lyme's disease here, and he'd been on lots of protocols for years.

24 MINS LATER

Uh, have you seen benefit with people in those fields, um, with, with psychedelics like ayahuasca in, in, in being able to, to help them, whether they realize it or not? Because a-as you said, you know, a lot of times maybe a, a, someone in that field comes, as you said, the, the one example of, "Well, my client is experiencing all these benefits, so I, I just wanna see what they're experiencing." But, but, but, but for themselves, uh, what begins to emerge?
