Peter RiosHOST

And they had a number of titles that I would want to read.
Peter RiosHOST
10:50
For instance, there was a book called Sentient, and that was by Jeff Lemire and Gabriel Walta.
Peter RiosHOST
10:58
I mean, come on.
Peter RiosHOST
10:59
With that creative team, I'm like, yeah, I might want to read that.
Pornsak PichetshoteGUEST
58:23
So, like, I just didn't want to be the embarrassment in the room.
Pornsak PichetshoteGUEST
58:26
Like, you know, I'm in a Zoom with, like, Jason Aaron and Scott and Dennis Camp and Kelly Thompson and Al Ewing and Jeff Lemire.
Pornsak PichetshoteGUEST
58:34
I just didn't want to be the guys, like, who brought this guy? Right.
Pornsak PichetshoteGUEST
58:38
So, like, that was all.
TomHOST
52:25
Um, I'm a big fan of that.
TomHOST
52:28
I recommend writers that I, I like, I, the first thing we started, I, Jeff Lemire, um, book.
TomHOST
52:35
I, I sent around, like I started reading Essex County.
TomHOST
52:39
Yeah.
TomHOST
53:42
What's the one with the antlers? They made the show.
TomHOST
53:45
Sweet tooth.
TomHOST
53:47
so good right so like I just I'll go on like how you did Mark Twain last year I'll go on a writer so I've done like a ton of Ed Brubaker I've done a ton of Bendis a ton of Jeff Lemire and so that's how I do it and that's the stuff I'm into lately it's been more fantasy stuff I've been really into Zelda I you know getting into gaming stuff so anything similar to adventure fantasy like that um I get into.
TomHOST
54:17
So I've jumped around to a lot of different stuff to answer the question you asked 15 minutes ago.
Daryl TaylorHOST
1:02
But for this one, we're going to talk about the...
Daryl TaylorHOST
1:07
I was just looking through and I was like, oh, what's some stuff that I did not read yet? and i was looking and i just came across and i didn't even realize this this came out it was a black label book it came out in february 2022 and it was a kind of uh you know out of continuity far in the future um swamp thing uh story and it and it was jeff lemire and doug monkey and i'm like those are two characters creators that i that i really like so i'm like why did we not talk about this before
Russ LathamHOST
1:41
I don't know.
Russ LathamHOST
1:41
And it's weird because I'm, I'm a mark for the black label book, especially the, the oversight, you know, cause it's that, that square magazine kind of format.
Daryl TaylorHOST
5:38
Who has the time
Russ LathamHOST
5:39
to read
Daryl TaylorHOST
5:40
all of it? of swamp thing from the from the beginning on like you just can't um so i've done like i've done some of that here and there if we cover something you know we've done some of that uh but again it's like you know the you know the the big stuff you know alec you know what he sacrificed you know like it's it's like jeff lemire did a great job of kind of like catching you up
Russ LathamHOST
6:02
Yeah, yeah.
SalHOST
51:07
I read Firestorm or the Fury of Firestorm.
SalHOST
51:10
This issue seven was from Jeff Lemire.
SalHOST
51:14
And I want to get this artist right because they are the unsung hero of the series.
SalHOST
51:19
They're doing a phenomenal job depicting a character that, again, I don't normally love.
SalHOST
53:01
And then we find Firestorm or maybe the Fire Elemental.
SalHOST
53:05
I don't know.
SalHOST
53:06
I made a joke about it on an episode of Back Issues a while back where I was like, there's no way Jeff Lemire knows who the Fire Elemental is.
SalHOST
53:14
And then it looked like we got the Fire Elemental.
SabalGUEST
5:54
And I just think it complements the story so well.
JoshHOST
5:59
And I don't know if it was necessarily sold as a horror book, I guess more science fiction, but I also think about Jeff Lemire and Jock's Snow Angels, which definitely had horror elements.
SabalGUEST
6:11
I will have to add that to my list.
BrandonHOST
6:15
The thing that sticks out to me the most about Witches is...

24 MINS LATER

JoshHOST
29:58
Sure.
JoshHOST
29:59
There's so many different ways you can approach horror with it.
BrandonHOST
30:03
So my last pick is by my favorite writer in comics, Jeff Lemire.
BrandonHOST
30:09
And he's been my favorite writer for quite a while.
Shane KellyHOST
56:50
That's not a bad way to advertise some of that stuff.
Aaron GanzGUEST
56:54
I know some of the Jeff Lemire comics that he's, they always have like all of his trades on the back page over there.
Aaron GanzGUEST
57:00
So I've loved that because sometimes, you know, I, get so affected by a story.
Aaron GanzGUEST
57:06
And then you look at all of the other things person did and helps you just immediately know where to go next.
PeterHOST
89:18
Absolute Flash issue 20.
PeterHOST
89:20
Jeff Lemire writing with Henning on the art.
PeterHOST
89:23
Last issue, of course, ended with Atom.
PeterHOST

Cool.
PeterHOST

The Fury of Firestorm, issue 7, Jeff Lemire writing with Rafael De La Torre on the R.
PeterHOST

RayHOST
168:01
And we will kick it off at number 10 with The Fury of Firestorm, number 7.
RayHOST
168:08
This is an incredibly intense Jeff Lemire-Raphael de la Torre series that has done a fascinating job of clarifying the bizarre circumstances behind Firestorm's creation and following up on Geoff John's reinvention of the character.
RayHOST
168:27
And this issue rebirths Firestorm in a completely new and terrifying form.
RayHOST
168:32
At number nine, it's Archie vs. the Terminator, number one.
RayHOST
169:18
As our two main characters are reunited for the first time in almost a year, as Marshall's tenure as Radiant Black gets more and more complicated, I just...
RayHOST
169:29
This series is so compelling that even just the characters sitting next to each other talking is a great read.
RayHOST
169:34
At number five, it's Minor Arcana, number 19, as Jeff Lemire takes us deep back in time to the grandfather of the main character and his link to the town's darkest secrets.
RayHOST
169:46
This was a fascinating issue with so many great moments.
Michael BaileyGUEST
45:51
I was very surprised.
Michael BaileyGUEST
45:52
It's a Jeff Lemire story that is not creepy, kooky, and altogether ooky.
Michael BaileyGUEST
45:55
He's usually somebody that likes to throw supernatural elements into the stuff he writes.
Michael BaileyGUEST
46:00
And this is a very straight ahead story.
