Okay, number four charts.

Number four is Game Change, the second election movie, HBO movie from Jay Roach, who had done a recount four years earlier, which is also magnificent.

But Game Change, I really think, just speaks to this incredible moment in American politics.

uh, just the utter insanity of the 2008 campaign.

I was, um, I was looking at, uh, Jay Roach's filmography, who directed these movies, and for some reason I, I conflate him in my brain with, um, one of the guys who's directed a bunch of Jim Carrey movies, 'cause I was like, "Oh, yeah, Jay Roach, he did a bunch of Jim Carrey movies." He, he didn't.

He hasn't done any.

Hmm.

And he wasn't gonna do the movie either.

It was s- he was helping out Mike Myers.

I think Jay Roach was, um, like a part-time professor at the time and-

Yeah

this year? Yeah.

You know, that was, I remember getting cast in that part and I was already sort of friendly with Ben Stiller and Jay Roach wasn't quite sold on it.

And, um, yeah, And then, you know, when I played the part again, they were kind of, you know, encouraged me to kind of you know, try to do stuff.

And that was just a, yeah, that was just kind of a funny character to play.

So when I was 15 years old, my dad, my father, was working on a film called Mystery Alaska.

That was directed by a man named Jay Roach.

A classic.

It's absolute garbage.

So I'm 15, and there's a picture of me in this moment.

I'm sitting in the director's chair.

All right, so let's talk about some of the, the crew here.

Jay Roach is the director here.

He was working as a part-time professor at a university and, and had little directing experience.

Myers felt that Roach was a logical person to direct the film because he felt that Roach was someone who was younger, had stronger visual ambitions, and ended up having a better sense of what the demographic would likely find funny, so.

Nope.

Nope.

The version of AOL, which is America Online, kids, that is on Austin's computer is version 3.0. Jay Roach said on the commentary that he did the AOL product placement in order to get a free year of service from them.

I very much remember that, uh-

Like he wants to... push the boundaries, and I know this is obviously a very silly little two-second gag, but even so, that's still kind of cruiser.

Apparently he wanted to wear the teeth, but he was talked out of it by Jay Roach, the director.

On the morning of the shoot, Roach said to Cruise, it would be funny, but the whole idea of this is that Hollywood made a version of Austin Powers and they would take advantage of Tom Cruise's sex appeal.
