So take me through each one of these guys and maybe others just of, uh, of what you've got, you know, with this new roster.
17:10
Yeah, you know, for me, uh, it's like coaching a whole new team.
17:13
You know, I think also something that goes into the past is, like, you have something that fits and you just try to rinse and repeat.
17:20
That's kind of how a lot of programs were kind of built.
17:22
But now with this portal era, you don't know what you're gonna get every year.
17:26
So my team looks completely different than before, so I had to build it differently.
17:30
And you know, it started with, uh, being able to get a really good point guard.
20:33
but I want you to try.
35:35
Does that feel right to you?
35:37
I mean, it's kind of been our story for the year.
35:40
You know, we've kinda been [laughs] kinda disrespected a- and looked o- over, so i- it just kinda goes, and I like it.
35:47
We've won on the road, um, more than anybody in the country, so this is just another road game for us and, and business as usual.
36:21
How in the world, knowing what you just said, did you flip this thing as quickly as you have, and in a power conference?
36:26
conference?Well, one, it starts with coming to the right place.
36:30
[laughs] Uh, you know, Miami, just being in the league the last three years and being around ACC, I felt like this was a place that you could win, um, and could win big at.
36:39
The second part was just getting the right people in the building.
36:42
Um, starting with the players, but also the staff, like you was just saying.
36:45
And then just really having a plan and a identity for what I wanted the team to look like and what I wanted it to be about.
36:52
I think that helped us a lot this year to start off and be competitive and build and be able to win.
40:41
And I don't wanna say to you, "Hey, man, what's it like to be a coach at a football school?" Because I know you don't see it that way per se, but how hard is it to get the hearts and minds of everybody involved when you're having a great year and the football team is back? What's that like?
31:22
How did you know that you were ready for this?
31:26
Just through my experiences, uh, everything I've done.
31:29
You know, my background is in a basketball family, so this is, this is something I've done my whole life is just be around the sport.
31:35
And then I was able to start coaching early, uh, at the age of 24, and I like to think I didn't skip any steps.
31:41
You know, I started as a paid GA, a special assistant, did operations, did just a recruiting coordinator job, did assistant coach, eventually moved up to associate head coach, where you have a little bit more, uh, managing people and responsibilities.
31:55
And, you know, just through those experiences and also my experiences as a player and being able to relate what people are going through, uh, how to communicate.
32:04
This day and age is so different.
35:24
What did you like about this opportunity, and why did you say yes and take this on?
