I don't know whether I'm just, I don't know whether I'm prejudiced by the fact that, you know, I like getting a view into his pain cave with the palm trees in the back and things like that.

But I feel as though a my whoosh, like what esports world championship semifinal, it wouldn't feel right if Ivan wasn't participating.

Do you know what I mean? So like, yeah, I think he

needs to be there.

I'm curious to see what tactics end up being employed this week with fewer spots on offer.

But that is something for us to look forward to and then chat about in next week's show.

But thinking about Qualifier 1 and the way that that race played out, Matt and Emma actually caught up with Roger Goosen earlier today about that World Championship Open Qualifier No. 1.

So we were talking a little bit about the men's open qualifier number one earlier on in the show.

Let's go across to the men's final.

In the men's category one, Jason Osborne put the pressure on from the very bottom of the climb.

He did wait to the bottom of the climb, though, to absolutely destroy everybody.

And in the end, opened the gap up of one minute and nine seconds over Ollie Jones, who's having a really good run of form.

When you've got 471 of them for your 20-minute power time, the next one's a lot harder.

The team competition was much clearer for the men.

Jason Osborne's win helped secure victory for the final bosses, who beat the Alpha Jaws Space Cowboys – still love that name – by one minute, 15 seconds.

Category 3, though, saw the tightest team battle with, well, just eight seconds separating the reluctant climbers – may not be so reluctant now – uh and uh los religiones

Well, uh, the women might have been in Australia, in Wollongong, but for the men's race, they actually headed to the Heritage climb.

Uh, and in the category one race of men's qualifier three, we had Jason Osborne doing more Jason Osborne things, as he often does.

Uh, he went clear of Ollie Jones by 30 seconds, and then Ollie Jones was clear of the rest of the field by 34 seconds.

Those two have now, uh, established a bit of a clear pattern in the, in the recent Sunday Race Club events.

So, uh, yeah, get some, get some internet and watch Sunday Race Club.

Well, in the men's qualifier four race, Jason Osborne again doing Jason Osborne things.

It's something that, uh, we've become accustomed to saying week in, week out.

They're gonna get caught 300 meters out, and then we're all gonna sprint again, okay? And then you get someone like, let's take Neil Fryer, who's an excellent sprinter.

Neil's job is just to hang in there, and he's going to score points in everything, and Jason has to jump on the front and try to gap everybody 'cause Jason's probably not the strongest sprinter.

When you bring in the element of surprise, let's just take Neil and Jason for argument's sake, Neil has to be very, very aware and very attentive and go, "Well, if I do my 1,200 watts here at this sprint, what if it's only 600 meters to the next one?" Okay? And then Jason goes, "Well, if I just roll in here ninth, pick up a couple of points, and I only do, you know, an 800 watt effort," which for Jason I think is zone two, um, then Jason just goes straight over the top and hopes that there is one in 600 meters, right? If I space them out, that element of surprise and fun goes away.

And, and to answer one question that I- I've been asked is they are randomized, defined by us before the event.

There's not someone sitting there going, "Oh, quick, Jason's in front.

Let's put a gate down."

Ah.
