Jason Clarke

So in 2015 there was a movie titled Everest which is all about this disaster.

It stars Jake Gyllenhaal and Jason Clarke who's one of my favourite actors and it is such a good film.

Not only does it obviously tell the story of what happened on that day but you also get to know the climbers who were notable in this expedition.

You get to know their personalities and what happened to them personally so if stories like this does interest you i would definitely recommend watching everest i think it's on amazon prime and i've watched it probably about three or four times by now because i just i love it also I should say that I have read John Krakow's book Into Thin Air, which, unlike the film, really details what happened on the expedition.

And tonight we are discussing Lawless, written by Nick Cave, directed by John Hillcoat, starring Tom Hardy, Shia LaBeouf, Guy Pearce, Jason Clarke, Jessica Chastain, Misa Wasikowska, or sorry, Mia Wasikowska, and Dane DeHaan, Gary Oldman as well.

Man, what a cast.

I had never seen this movie.

And I think there's a few scenes that communicate that from the perspective of...

And a lot of it is just done through just great little moments between Forrest and Howard.

Almost no dialogue between them in this movie, Jason Clarke and Tom Hardy, but all these looks they share, usually in the context of Jack and what he's doing throughout the movie, because he's the little brother.

And I think that people don't get, these critics are like, oh, he's this bumbling idiot brother who's like over-eager, etc.

Highly recommend it.

Yeah, Lawless is one I've had, Hunter.

yeah I mean what I've sort of found is that what was really there was one thing I had a a small part on Oppenheimer.

It was mostly in this courtroom sort of scene where Cillian Murphy's character, Oppenheimer, is getting grilled and there's a lot of lawyers and legal talk and sort of, tempers are flaring, and Jason Clarke is like the prosecutor, and he's like a very aggressive, hardcore kind of guy, and just because I got kind of swept up in the energy of him like, what did you know on Wendy, and he's kind of like, blasting his ass, right? And it's really intense.

And I felt like I needed to match that.

And so I kind of got caught up in this idea and I did a thing where like I banged my hand on the desk and it was, I don't remember what the line was, but it was the equivalent of like, how dare you? That kind of thing.

Don't worry, everybody! Everything's gonna be directed! I have a gun! Once I got that out of my system, it was cool.

I mean, even going back to the interaction with Nolan for that scene, is it like, when you're cast for a role like that, were you getting worked up in that scene because you were thinking as yourself? Or how do you even separate the character, I guess? Where are you figuring out who that

person is? No, I was listening to Jason Clarke and reacting to Jason Clarke.

And so, you know, it was just kind of like as his energy went up, I sort of like my instinct was for my energy to go up.
