I, I'm a big Pons fan.

With that said, I think Jarvis Brownlee Jr.'s earning the spot this start in week two, even if Pons is healthy.

I think that you've gotta go with the guy who deserves to play, and Brownlee had a great game in the slot against Tennessee.

Now, it's a revenge game, so we'll see whether he can sustain it.

The big money guys, the guys who were first round picks who on many teams get a free pass, realized, "I gotta work hard or I'm gonna lose my job." And the guys who maybe weren't big money players, and the guys who maybe were low round draft picks or UDFAs realized, "You know what? I'm gonna have a fair chance at earning a starting job if I perform, so I better go out there." There are so many teams where s- playing time is not based on merit, at least completely, and, you know, a first round pick gets into the starting lineup because he's a first round pick because the GM and coach have inve- invested so much in them.

And it's best when you just do it based on who deserves to play.

I think Jarvis Brownlee Jr. deserv- deserves to play until he plays his way out of the lineup, 'cause he was great in this game against Tennessee.

Doesn't play this well this week, we can have a discussion heading into week three.

What was the secondary gonna look like? I think a lot of guys had some nice moments in this game.

Jarvis Brownlee had a couple nice moments in this game.

Uh, Braden Stevens had a dec- a couple nice moments in this game.

The one that really stood out, though, which I assume you feel pretty good about, Ezra Thomas looked really good.

Mm-hmm

... that they're doing in real time.

And on that play, Jarvis Brownlee did a fantastic job in zone coverage, and so that's like, all right, so many nice things happening in concert with one another.

And then the stretch from Thomas that I was just like, "Man, this is really good," they had a, there was a two-play sequence at one point where he's in cover two on the first play.
