Jared Golden

Maybe you could be a member of the House of Representatives for four or five terms, something like that, so that your service, all told, is about a decade max.

So you can do what Jared Golden of Maine did.

He told his wife when he ran for and won his House seat as a Democrat.

I'll only do this for five terms if I win reelection 10 years and then I'm done.

... doing this virtue signaling bill.

Um, and, uh, two Democrats, Jared Golden and Marie Concentration Camp Perez-

... decided that they would break with the party without letting anyone know, just go rogue on the middle of the House floor and vote with the GOP to pass this procedure so that the GOP could then go and push forth a condemnation of socialism, say that you have-

Yeah

... to give money to Israel if you're a college, do all of these things.

And the only explanation that we get is that Jared Golden did it because he wanted a lobster bill to pass.

And two of his Democrats stepped out of line and put their political identities on the line here by refusing to behave like traditional Democrats.

So this is Jared Golden of Maine and Marie Luce and Tom Perez of Washington.

So both of these Democrats ended up siding with the Republican agenda.

And I'll get to what happened there in a minute.

Jared Golden is a congressman from Maine.

He's about 44 years old.

No, actually, there are no seats that Democrats currently hold that they won in an environment where Trump won by 10 points or more.

Jared Golden is the most Republican seat.

hold seat currently held by a Democrat, Maine too, and that was a Trump plus nine district, I believe.

And so you take a look at this and say, why isn't this in the lean r category and i wouldn't be surprised at all if by middle october or the last week of october cook puts this in the lean r category because there's nothing that we know about the republican nominee uh that says that he's anything other than a generic republican this is a district that will elect a generic republican and a lot of the area is new to kathy caster so you just look do you think she's going to over perform the democratic baseline here by five six points There's nothing in her history to suggest that's the case.

And what really caused a big political kerfuffle on the Democratic side was something that sounds kind of obscure, but when they were voting on the rule, which basically sets up this package w- of what was four bills, including the resolution to condemn socialism, generally the opposing party never, ever votes for the rule and makes all the pressure go on the, uh, how-- the party in power, in this case, of course, the Republicans.

But what happened was two Democrats, Jared Golden of Maine and Mary Gluesenkamp Perez of Washington State, both voted for the rule, and their two votes allowed that vote on socialism to move forward.

And that really angered the Democratic leadership, uh, Hakeem Jeffries and others, because this is something that's, is just not done, as, uh, former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said.

So they had a big, uh, as they s- they like to call these things, family discussion about this and about whether they will be penalized.

So, Reince, I don't know if you heard it, but the speaker was sitting there with Paul DePage.

He's going to flip that Jared Golden seat.

Do you think he's just being optimistic when he says he can not only hold the House, he can add seats in the House?

No, I think that this is going to be really close.
