Jaquez White

I guess we've got to go back and look at the tape.

But that was one where I think all three of those guys, you had Caleb Spencer, Quentin Reddish, and Jaquez White.

They all immediately after that play looked at the sidelines like, what's going on? So that was busted.

Coverages are a bit of a concerning issue for this defense right now, but a correctable issue.

Josh Clark has been great, by the way, maybe an underrated guy on this defense who's played really, really well.

To this point, Jaquez White on the opposite side has had maybe some struggles.

The rest of the secondary against Maryland had some struggles.

Bounced back last week against Boston College, although how much of that was the weather.

I think they dropped two.

Jaquez White wasn't able to hang on to two different pick sixes.

They weren't right in his hands.

They would have been really good plays.

It looked to me like a lot of zone coverage busts where a corner would go with the wrong guy and just leave a zone wide open.

It wasn't like Jaquez White and Josh Clark were just getting burned in man-to-man coverage and just aren't good enough to cover those receivers.

Just looked like some schematic things, some reads and some zone busts that need to get cleaned up.

I have no doubts Brent Bryan, this coaching staff, will work very hard to get that cleaned up over the next week, and hopefully we'll have a better secondary performance against Boston College.

And Franklin also said you need to be ready with the amount of screens they throw for the screen and go where the guy either, you know, fakes like he's going to catch a screen and it runs upfield or you have one guy faking the screen while another receiver runs down the field right by you acting like he's going to block down the field so a couple of tricky kind of plays that maryland can pull out there this is a big game for both teams by far their best competition of the season so far so do not be surprised to see these coordinators pulling out all the tricks all the stops to try and get a win this saturday Another interesting kind of funny thing from James Franklin talked about Maryland quarterback Malik Washington.

And the first thing he said about him was that he is super accurate, potentially a response to what Jaquez White corner for the Hokies said on Monday, where he doesn't think Malik Washington is is very accurate.

But I think Washington's a super talented quarterback.

He can make all the throws.

I think that will be a good sign for Virginia Tech because that means these runs and throws for Maryland aren't getting into the secondary, forcing these safeties and cornerbacks to have to make tackles.

So Caleb Spencer going to be a big X factor on defense.

And then Jaquez White.

If you're going to talk the talk, you got to walk the walk, brother.

Shout out to C.J. Revis.

Malik Washington, I hate to disagree with Jaquez White, who did give Maryland a little bit of bulletin board material.

Jaquez White in media availability said, Washington has a decent arm, It's decent.

It's decent.

It's a funny Instagram account.

Don't think it's going to be a focal point of the offense for them, but a nice change-up throughout the game would be to get Malik Washington going with his legs.

An interesting zag to all the praise that James Franklin gave Malik Washington came from Hokies cornerback Jaquez White.

Not as impressed with Malik Washington as Franklin is.

He said, "I don't really think he's that accurate." So a little bit of bulletin board material potentially For Malik Washington and the Terrapins, but we'll have to see if Jaquez White can hold up in coverage against Maryland's speedy wide receivers and their talented veteran quarterback, Malik Washington.

Moving over to the defensive side now.

Their defensive coordinator is Ted Monachino, coming into his second season in Maryland.

Wosley looked all right yesterday.

The DBs, Jaquez White went out for a while.

I don't know if he got banged up or what, but he came back.

But they haven't really tested him.

They don't throw at him.

They were throwing at Josh, but I didn't really see him throw at Jaquez White.

Much yesterday.

Well, the one pass interference call where Quez had the guy's arm.
