I don't know about you, Devin.

I know you're more of a Japanophile than I was, at least before you came to Japan.

So were you aware of it? Yeah, definitely.

I was definitely aware of it.

Japan as much as I do.

Is it, what's the term, Japanophile? [laughs]

[laughs] I mean, phile anything.

Whatever it is.

So storytelling and psychedelics go hand in glove.

And it's just, it's a good balance for me as a Japanophile and thinking of the warrior culture.

The samurai would have the martial arts that they did and the battles that they would do.

But they also had kabuki theater and they had the tea ceremony and kanji and calligraphy.

Her father was understandably very hurt and heartbroken that his daughter would deny him like that, and her mother was furious.

They both talked to me about Cara and her home life, how she was usually in her room and never really mentioned any of this Japanophilia to them.

Is that a real term?

Yeah, I think that was-

Sinophile-philia.

A sinophile?

Being obsessed with movies?

You know, try to branch out into like rally racing and F1 every once in a while.

And of course, you have these other, like, you made this great video about sumo, the world's oldest professional sport, which I watched and thoroughly enjoyed as the Japanophile actual samurai that I am.

I was like, finally, someone's talking about my culture.

I'm so glad to see it.

It's funny, it didn't make me think, "Why isn't America like this?" It made me think, "How is it possible that Japan is like this?" But just, like, to be on a public train that is more clean than my bedroom.

And so I, I-- what you're saying at least fits my own experience of [laughs] rising Japanophilia.

It was just like, whoa, this just seems to work, and it's nice to briefly visit a place that seems to work.

Well, there are codes of behavior in Japan, and, uh, they don't suit everybody.
