I did Google Vanek.

I was like, this feels like another callback, but I can pull something up.

Nope, it was going to be Yeoman Rand, and then it just didn't work out.

We decided, eh, no, so we went with Vanek.

So here are some things I had on Charlie's Law.

I found that Kirk did not downplay Janice Rand as much.

There was no talk of the boy needing a father figure, and so Kirk needed to do that.

And at the end, Janice Rand actually volunteered to use herself as bait and entrap Charlie.

which were all things I thought were interesting changes from the episode.

And when we say changes, we do not know if these are things from the script that got changed in the production or if they were things that Bliss changed as he was adapting the script.

I felt like I had a more full understanding of them than I did on screen.

there is no mind meld between Spock and doctor, the, the, the escaped doctor.

But this apparently is one of the first films in Hollywood history where the television series is going to the big screen and it retains its original cast.

And I think that is one of, for me, that is also one of the cool things about Star Trek as it moves from screen to small screen to the big screen is that they do keep these people, even like supporting characters, like Janice Rand is sort of in the background every once in a while, who you don't know who that is, Matt.

Much as I love the classic series, anytime they would bring up some more detail, it would just always add more.

When they had real food that they'd be eating at a scene, or real coffee that Yeoman Rand would bring in, that just added so much.

And these movies, boy, the detail's there.

They just build on that.
