It's getting some great reviews around the world.

I think it's one of those movies where if you're a fan of Jane Austen, which are called the Janites or the Austenites, they've all given it a seal of approval.

and Pride and Prejudice apparently is coming out on the BBC in a couple of months' time.

So there's a lot more Jane Austen stuff coming.

Huge fans.

And then Daisy, because of Normal People, I was like, "What's that like doing a gig like that?" Because Jane Austen fans, they're Janeites, or Austenites is their name of them.

They're fierce.

Mm.

Which brings us to the mania of fandom, the people who don't just read the books but completely obsess over them.

We look to a book called Among the Janeites by the journalist Deborah Yaffe.

Yaffe explores the immersive world of Austen fandom that spans generations and continents.

And these fans are intense.

Right.

But Austen's world, despite its rigid social constraints, is bright, witty, and deeply communal.

The Janeites are seeking that level of deliberate face-to-face social engagement that we fundamentally lack in our modern, hyper-digital, isolated lives.

They want the eye contact across the ballroom floor.
