Jane Mendelsohn

We should also give Jane full props here.

The lovely Jane that Nick speaks of is his wife, Jane Mendelsohn, the noted author, author of one of my favorite novels of the past couple of decades.

I was Amelia Earhart, so...

Shout out to Jane, your creative partner load these past many years and your co-author of this book version.

Here at our As Told To offices, we call it a whole lot of fun, but also, and mostly, it is an impressive bit of storytelling.

Not least because Nick Davis, working in collaboration with his wife and producing partner Jane Mendelsohn...

the noted American novelist, didn't have any footage to work with to bring any of that irresistible exuberance across to their viewers.

In the hour ahead, Nick will tell us how he managed to capture the joy of that years ago production with a cast that's been called the 27 Yankees of comedy without any original archival footage.

And you can't disprove that.

And so the myth arose.

And I thought, with my wife and partner now in my production company and and beloved Jane Mendelsohn, we thought, like, what a crazy story.

Like, let's dig into this.

His paternal grandparents were novelists and screenwriters.

He's married to novelist Jane Mendelsohn, and his cousin is Turner Classic Movies host Ben Mankiewicz.

Go back a generation or two, and there are more famous Mankiewiczs than you can shake a Citizen Kane at.

Davis himself wrote and directed a couple of terrific sports documentaries, including a 30 for 30 series on the 1986 New York Mets.
