Well, there's one thing we never will get because famously she won't talk about anything that happened with Paul McCartney ever is Jane Asher.

If Paul did play Auntie Gin's theme at family get-togethers, that suggests that the music may have been first composed prior to 1963 because once the Beatles got big in 1963, Paul made it to very few family events for a few years.

On the other hand, in his authorized biography of Paul, Barry Miles says that the song was written in the music room at Jane Asher's parents' house on Wimpole Street in London.

If that's true, it could not have been written earlier than 1963 because he wouldn't have been living at Wimpole Street.

Apparently, Auntie Gin heard it without words, so perhaps Paul started writing the music at some earlier time and wrote the words at Jane's house, probably in May-June 1965.

We don't know.

We also don't know the inspiration of the song's lyrics for sure, but it's easy to imagine that it would've been Jane Asher.

Jane was his girlfriend and then fiancée for almost five years, from mid-1963 to early 1968.

She's clearly the subject for a number of his songs from that period.
