The Freedom of Speech Memorial was officially unveiled in the village of Veľká Mača on Saturday.

It is located on the site of the house where murdered journalist Ján Kuciak and his fiancée, Martina Kušnírová, lived.

The memorial was built at the site of their murders, which took place on the 21st of February, 2018.

Its design was selected through a public architectural competition won by Benjamin Bradňanský, Vít Halada, and Martin Piaček.

Well, one of the key defendants is, in this case, Tibor Gaspar, is not just a retired policeman.

He was forced out as a police chief after the two thousand eighteen, um, tragic murder of journalist Jan Kuciak and his fiancée here in Slovakia, and then he was charged in this, uh, in this, uh, Purgatory case.

And yet, uh, despite of that, or maybe because of that, uh, he joined, uh, uh, Robert Fico's Smer party.

And after Smer won the last two thousand twenty-three election, uh, Tibor Gaspar became Deputy Speaker of Parliament, a very powerful politician, and Robert Fico stands firmly behind him.

Slovakia signed Ukraine Claims Convention on the Kuciak murder story becomes miniseries, and Slovakia presented its priorities at the UN.

Slovakia signed a convention in Strasbourg last Wednesday, establishing an international claims commission for Ukraine.

The initiative aims to address compensation claims for damage caused by Russia's war against Ukraine.

Slovakia joined 39 other countries and the European Union in signing the convention.

The agreement will still require approval by the Slovak parliament before it can be ratified.

Slovak director Tereza Dnotová completed filming a six-part miniseries titled Our People, Naši Ludia, focusing on the 2018 murders of the investigative journalist Jan Kuciak and his fiancée Martina Kušnírová.

The project was completed after three years of work with support from Czech television, HBO and public broadcasters in Germany and France.
