Not super uncommon, but this court runs on time, so I was wondering what was going on, and it dawned on me at that point that I hadn't seen Laura.

Usually at these hearings, we bump into Laura and her mother or father in the hallway.

That's always awkward in any case, not just this one.

But I hadn't seen them, so we were wondering where she was.

Then we got to the part where Laura had to respond to each charge.

As I looked around the courtroom, everyone seemed to be stunned.

Her mother, Jan Black, was sitting across the aisle on the other side of the courtroom, but I could see her face.

She was completely deadpan and emotionless, watching her daughter plead guilty.

I don't know.

She goes by Jan Black, but that's not really her name.

I think it's Elizabeth something that sounds like Taylor, but it's not Taylor.

So she changed her name because it was too close to Elizabeth Taylor.

I've been telling you about Laura Owens for nearly a year now, but the story has been out there far longer than that.

Laura Owens is the daughter of San Francisco talk radio legend Ron Owens and his wife, publicist Jan Black.

Laura is an accomplished equestrian, and she also hosted a podcast with her mother.

When we last left off, Honorable Judge Madeline Wanslee had ordered Ron Owens and Jan Black to submit their completed paperwork, including a full accounting of funds raised through GoFundMe.

On July 16th, they appeared in bankruptcy court again for a meeting of creditors.
