It's always a big deal when there's a mid-season engineer change.

I feel like this is the biggest mid-season shakeup since Jamie Whincup demanded that David Couche come off his car midway through 2015 to put Mark Dutton back on again-

... to sort of s- steady the ship in that scenario.

But Jamie Whincup sat in the presser yesterday and talked about the fact that sport is about telling stories.

And they put this story out there, and, uh, everyone has feasted on it.

We had a team principals press conference at midday with Jamie Whincup, Matt Stone and Brenton Grove, which certainly, uh, filled the gap for us before practice.

We, we've seen it a few times before over their time as Triple Eight teammates.

I think back to Topor 2024, I think that was the first real sort of inter-team battle they had, and they weren't afraid to get their, get their elbows out, and m- m- much to Jamie Whincup's dismay, perhaps.

But I don't know.

I think you put a race win in front of Will Brown and Broc Feeney, and you'd be hard-pressed to try and wrestle it away from them.

I think that's, that's gonna be the mantra for Triple Eight moving forward, and that's what happened to them on Sunday in Perth.

They felt like they, they let one slip, and you saw just how fired up Broc Feeney was in particular.

And Jamie Whincup, on our Cool Down Lap podcast, I thought he was gonna have a swing at me.

He was so, so frustrated by letting that one slip.
