we'll come to the fore on that one but I think Batty will help out with that one and Hartlepool they started the game okay I think like they had three shots on target early on in the game obviously the Harris goal but after that I don't think from what I've seen they had a shot on target in the game like it was fairly lethargic free header from Norwood what is the defence doing Miley needs to track the runner for Pat Jones's goal it's a simple one too it looks good from a scunthorpe point of view but it's a very very simple one too like it's do your basics right as simple as that I think that should be the title of this podcast at this rate and yeah they're just like even the pre-match interview from Lidl and Clayton I think I put it in the group chat they looked so depressed just being there and I think that just the mood around the club obviously you don't want to pick them because it's one interview and one image but they just didn't look up for it at all 15 goals conceded so far from Hartlepool we always thought they were a strong defence and it took them until the 29th of November last year to concede 15 goals they've done that with nearly two months to spare and so far this season, and only Gateshead have scored less goals from them.

I mean, that's quite hard considering how bad Gateshead are.

Eight goals in ten games for them, and they've only scored more than one goal in one game, and that was on the opening day of the season against Barrow.

If you look for a team in the top seven of this National League, he wouldn't get into any of those midfields, honestly.

And I think Simeon Miley is struggling because of what he's got around him.

I think Miley is a player, yes, he can do a lot more.

But I think he is struggling because he seems to be wanting to try and do everything, Jamie Miley, rather than concentrate on just one aspect of the game.

There's games where he's coming to the back four and taking the ball.

There's games where he's literally everywhere and he can't do everything.

Because for me, that midfield, I cannot believe that something like Chris Beach, Lee Clark and the coaching staff who have all played midfield in their careers didn't see that that was a problem.

It was just a real positive improvement in that sense, performance-wise.

100% I think as well you have to give a lot of credits to Jamie Miley as well because I thought he had a very very good game obviously he did get the goal but his runs with the ball he was moving forward very frequently as well he looked a lot better I think in the centre of that midfield I don't know if it was the change in formation or just because he was having one of those games where he just felt confident but yeah he certainly I mean he was heavily involved in the goal before he got on the end of it as well he made that run sort of close to the edge of the box, managed to poke it through for Will Harris before he made the run, a little bit similar to how Tom Crawford sort of laid it off and then got it into the box.

So that's the sort of thing we need a bit more from him and the likes of him.

I think Cole Damon as well, fair start for the club.

So, for me, it was a real improvement in terms of getting bodies forward, getting people in and around the box.

That goal came from, really, Will Harris and Jamie Miley being just inside the box, a little bit of nice play, getting the ball out wide, and, you know, somebody making a run, something that Pools fans have all been crying out for, really.

Start making runs into the box, late runs in particular, something that we haven't seen for a while.

And yeah, Hartlepool probably had the better chances in the first half, but I think Ultingham dominated the game.

But Hartlepool did get back into it with an equaliser on the 47 minutes from Miley.

It was a great leap from him and he headed it.

He placed it into the corner and maybe the goalkeeper could have done a bit better with it.

We certainly wouldn't have lost that game 11 v 11, without a doubt.

And we've mentioned already with the guys beside me, Brooklyn Long, Jamie Miley, and I would suggest Will Harris as well, probably the standouts on the night, but particularly Brooklyn Long down the left-hand side, putting the crosses in, particularly in the first half.
