I mean, what's that experience like for a couple of the regiments on the

ground? Well, I'm going to go to a primary source here for this.

And this is the words of a 20-year-old corporal in the 151st Infantry whose name is Corporal Paul-Joseph Fournier.

He's the class of 1916.

So already called up well before.

And this this brief little excerpt he gives here is on the 23rd of September, 1916, as 151st is going into the line.

And so I'm just going to read this real quick.

And in fact, a couple of the big ones get threatened fairly early.

Um, but, uh, it is interesting to see how that community that is driven out following the Highland Clearances, following the Jacobite Rebellion of 1745 itself becomes divided during the American Revolution.

Probably the most famous example of this is Flora MacDonald.

She is in North Carolina.

She was, uh, removed from, uh, the Scottish Isles in the Western Highlands for having helped Bonnie Prince Charlie escape-After the Battle of Culloden.

She's a loyalist during the American Revolution, and because of her support for the British government, she's allowed to return to Scotland, and she does so.

Uh, there are other examples of Scottish Highlanders who, again, would have been opposing the government during the Jacobite Rebellion, siding with the British government, in this case, against, uh, the American revolutionaries.

Did the Southern Campaign decide the fate of the Revolutionary War? Um, one writer claims that the battles in New England, New York, New Jersey, and elsewhere in the so-called Northern Theater were, quote, "Nothing more than a sideshow barren of decisive results," except in regard to Saratoga, where of course the, the British Army lost for the first time in its history.
