First, James Dean Bradfield sent me some words to read out to introduce him.

So, sorry, Sean, but I had to do this.

By the time of his disappearance, he had been hospitalized for depression and was reportedly drinking heavily.

On the morning of February one, 1995, Edwards and frontman James Dean Bradfield were scheduled to fly to the US for a promotional tour.

They were staying at the Embassy Hotel in London.

At seven AM, Edwards checked out of the hotel.

The second solo single for the lead singer of the Manic Street Preachers, James Dean Bradfield.

And what's the point of doing a solo album away from your band if you can't be a bit more personal? And so this is his tribute to the early Manic Street Preachers publicist and manager, Philip Hall, who died of cancer in 1993.

And here is James Dean Bradfield himself talking about it.

The song An English Gentleman is about basically the first time, uh, Martin and Philip, um, Martin and Philip Hall, our managers, it's the first time they drove down to Wales to come and see us rehearse in Newbridge, uh, combin- um, Newbridge School down the road.

The bassist who also wrote lyrics, Nicky Wire.

Second guitarist and vocalist, James Dean Bradfield, noted that the main guitar riff was inspired by Guns N' Roses, Sweet Child O' Mine, and other sections.

Drunken Titans to Queen and Aerosmith.

and lyrically it catches a nostalgic, hopeful sense of escapism, focusing on new appearances.
