James Burton

A master plan for the development of St. John's Wood was prepared in 1794, but development did not start until 1804 when Henry Samuel Eyre II and Walpole Eyre both held their first auction.

One of the first developers was James Burton.

St John's Wood is bounded to the north and east by Boundary Road and Avenue Road respectively, both of which also form the boundary between the City of Westminster and the London Borough of Camden.

To the west, Maida Vale marks the division between St John's Wood and the neighbouring district of the same name.
