JaMarcus Shephard

Uh, Petros Papadakis, who's not buying it, is with us on the air.

Uh, you mentioned JaMarcus Shepherd.

I'm glad you understood me.

Uh, well, I'm, I'm getting, like, every fourth word, but it's enough to parse it together.

Don't say...

That's not cool.

Uh, you mentioned JaMarcus Shepherd, our old pal, wide receiver coach for Kalen.

Coached at Dunze, McMillan, Jalen Polk, all those guys here at UDub, and took them all the way to the, uh, college football national championship.

Like Oregon State, I made this point yesterday, they're working off of like a, uh, a, a bag cereal, western family brand macaroni and cheese type of NIL budget.

I mean, they got no money, right? So what I love about the Oregon State story is that one, they go out and find a coach to bring in from Alabama in Jamarcus Shepherd.

And then this is what's cool about football is that you got all these big programs out there with all these resources and yet all the big schools missed on Brayden Atkinson-

One offer

Yeah.

And then you start to hear Mateer rumors and all of these things, and it just starts to eat, eat at people and, and the team.

Um, speaking of Jamarcus, Jamarcus Shepherd, uh, first year head coach at Oregon State, he actually coached w- uh, WSU receivers under Mike Leach back in 2016.

Has he spoken to you about his time at Washington State and the, the tie there and how that's played into him becoming a head coach?

Were you guys? Yeah.

Honestly, we were coming into it with some decent expectations, but we did not expect this offense to be this electric, this early into this Jamarcus Shepard tenure for sure.

Jesse Legree has been obviously the big story for the offense.

He's taken the world by storm.

When they're not doing so hot, like last season when we're tanking, it's just like, I don't care about what's going on, man.

I get it.

But with Jamarcus Shepard, man, he has brought such a – tremendous energy and just a whole new type of field to Oregon State football because we're so used as Oregon State fans to the, you know, gosh darn it, golly, Jiminy Christmas type with Mike Riley.

And then it was Jonathan Smith who came in.

I'm blown, I'm blown away by what I've been seeing, because I ...

When Jamarcus talked about changing culture, every coach says that when they take over-

Mm-hmm

... a new job.

Mm-hmm.

I don't think that's lip service stuff.

There's something genuine about all of that method and enthusiasm that Ma- Jamarcus wasn't just flapping his gums back in November.

Mm-hmm.

Thank you.

So those are the thoughts of Oregon State head coach Jamarcus Shepard.

We'll take a quick break, and then we'll come back with Mitch Dolan, offensive coordinator, quarterback's coach.

So a quick timeout back in two minutes to the Jack and Ginny Wilborn media room for Coach Dolan with Coach McIntyre still to come back in two on Joe Radio.

Four weeks into now five with the first session that we had heading into this 2026 season.

Heading off to Colorado State this weekend.

And so our usual, of course, includes head coach Jamarcus Shepard.

We just heard from Mitch Dolan, and we are awaiting the arrival of defensive coordinator linebackers coach Mike Macintyre.
