Gaby UrrutiaHOST
32:13
One of just three true 24-7 five stars at this early stage of the process.
Gaby UrrutiaHOST
32:18
Jalen Flowers, a top 50 talent out of California.
Gaby UrrutiaHOST
32:21
This is another guy who camped for Miami in the summer, returned for the weekend this is a guy who's a high priority target for will harris who is a southern california native miami's always been good for one pool out of the west coast to cycle it seems like they consistently find a guy that they would typically not get that they find a way to get dante right the most recent example out of long beach poly of course you go get eli wood or two miami's done a really good job in previous cycles you got hayden low of course it's not with the program but it was a five star out of southern california that they found a way to land You think about what they've done in the Vegas area with SJLF Atuli, with Elijah Lofton.
Gaby UrrutiaHOST
32:55
Guys like that, getting Vance Spafford, flipping him from Georgia.
Gaby UrrutiaHOST
32:58
So Miami's very familiar with the West Coast.
Gaby UrrutiaHOST
33:01
And Jalen Flowers is one of the top guys in this 2028 class to know.
Gaby UrrutiaHOST
33:05
in the state of California.
Gaby UrrutiaHOST
33:06
Nasir Richards, just while we're talking DBs out of Newark, New Jersey, Miami made a really strong impression.
D MoneyHOST
46:25
Malik Muhammad is big time defense and from, from Texas.
D MoneyHOST
46:29
Um, Jalen Flowers, a safety we really like from California.
D MoneyHOST
46:32
I believe he's visited as well unofficially.
D MoneyHOST
46:34
Gabriel Player, a top 100 player from Melbourne, Florida.
Tracy McDannaldHOST
8:16
the offensive tackle and Jayce Sanders supposed to be there.
Tracy McDannaldHOST
8:18
I did confirm that Jalen Flowers, the safety from Palos Verdes, there was some question whether he was gonna make it because of the early kickoff.
Tracy McDannaldHOST
8:25
He told me last night that, you know, he will in fact be in attendance.
Tracy McDannaldHOST
8:29
And actually, uh, I'll be catching up with him on Friday before he takes off for Oregon, 'cause I'm covering, uh, Inglewood at Palos Verdes.
Brandon HuffmanHOST
9:17
They recruit me," unlike the previous staff to now, "Hey, I really like the staff," and they're winning and they're putting their guys in a position to win.
Brandon HuffmanHOST
9:24
So, you know, when you have a guy like a Lincoln Falafi who, you know, still relatively new to football, really falls in love with UCLA early on and then he starts getting all the national attention but now UCLA's winning.
Brandon HuffmanHOST
9:36
A win with him as a guest of Oregon and Jalen Flowers who proximity certainly helps UCLA but if you're Jalen Flowers and you're walking, you're watching college football, you're seeing what Oregon's doing.
Brandon HuffmanHOST
9:47
You're seeing what Oregon's doing in the secondary in these last couple of classes.
Gerard MartinezHOST
75:35
I actually changed up some of the options a little more, the eight, uh, that I named.
Gerard MartinezHOST
75:40
Um, but Troy Bishop was, was the one, you know, outside, like, Jalen Flowers and, um, I think maybe he took Kuron Williams as a cornerback.
Gerard MartinezHOST
75:48
I can't remember, uh, what the three were that he kept, but Troy was definitely o- of that list, uh, the, the biggest surprise.
Gerard MartinezHOST
75:55
But I think that's a guy that's, you know, rising up, um, the, the, the recruiting board for USC, along with Jalen Flowers.
Gerard MartinezHOST
76:03
Um, you know, Gio McKnight is a player that came out here.
Gerard MartinezHOST
76:06
We haven't been able to get a hold of him, uh, from, uh, Ohio, Pickerington.
Gerard MartinezHOST
76:14
Another one of those guys that you look at and you go, "Okay, this is more of a coverage defensive back." This is not a guy you really want to play near the line of scrimmage to be a force player, to be an edge rusher, to be a guy that, you know, you're gonna depend on in, in the run game.
Gerard MartinezHOST
76:26
Um, a free safety.
Roman TomashoffHOST
29:30
And I wanted to add two other names to this discussion that Washington is very interested in.
Roman TomashoffHOST
29:34
I'm going to talk about one of them here in a second, a little bit more in depth in the Kyle Lambath and Jalen Flowers.
Roman TomashoffHOST
29:40
And so I look at that group of guys as some of the names I'm very, very interested in.
Roman TomashoffHOST
29:45
to see what happens in this recruiting cycle, because it's very clear that those are the group of guys where Michael Ramos and Jordan Sly are two from the Gourney Report that I would really, really consider watching.
Roman TomashoffHOST
29:55
And then another one that, because we talked about Nakia Lambeth on this show a little bit, we haven't necessarily dove as much into Jalen Flowers, who, top 100 guy, put Washington in his top 12 a couple of weeks ago, is someone who, you go and you look at the film, And he's somebody that I think would be a dream addition for Ryan Walters in the secondary because he's got the size, the length, the ball skills, all those buzzwords we talk about, right? To play outside corner, but he also has the range and the athleticism and the physicality necessary to play safety if need be.
Roman TomashoffHOST
30:26
And so this is one of those guys where as he narrows down his top 12 even further from a lot of the nation's elite programs, he's someone that I feel Washington is going to be making a sizable push for and to get early in this 2028 class and i apologize for not mentioning earlier that everybody we're talking about here today is a member of the class of 2028 but those are all the sorts of things that i'm very curious about when it comes to just what washington is going to be looking for because a guy like jalen flowers it also just kind of pertains to this discussion as well right of, hey, that's one of these guys where the evaluation is certainly going to be very, very high when you go in and you look at that film and what he's able to do.
Roman TomashoffHOST
31:06
And so moving forward, looking at just kind of where some of these guys might be on Washington's board as we get through their junior years and as we get into the offseason.
Roman TomashoffHOST
31:16
I'm going to be keeping a very close eye on that because Washington has done such a good job of recruiting in the secondary.
Chris TrevinoHOST
143:03
One spot, exactly.
Gerard MartinezHOST
143:05
Next on the list, Palos Frutis, four-star safety, Jalen Flowers.
Gerard MartinezHOST
143:10
Perhaps.
Gerard MartinezHOST
143:11
Perhaps.
Chris TrevinoHOST
144:10
But I had it in the back of my mind before we even started this.
Chris TrevinoHOST
144:15
If Flowers was on here, I'm taking him.
Chris TrevinoHOST
144:17
So I'm using my final spot on Jalen Flowers, which means I'm cutting the last two, whoever they may be.
Chris TrevinoHOST
144:25
Indeed you are Chris.
Steve WiltfongGUEST
4:43
You know, Virginia Tech, others in play there.
Steve WiltfongGUEST
4:47
Um, Jalen Flowers, number two safety in the country, five-star caliber prospect from California.
Steve WiltfongGUEST
4:53
He's been to Ohio State four times now.
Steve WiltfongGUEST
4:55
Um, so obviously Ohio State's one of his favorites, and it was another great visit for him in Columbus.
Garrick HodgeGUEST
22:31
But now I no longer say that with offensive tackles because Ohio State has landed two premier out-of-state offensive tackles in the 27 class with Jim Kalis and with Kayden Moss from Mississippi, obviously.
Garrick HodgeGUEST
22:44
So I now think it's more fun and exciting to talk about offensive line recruiting when you – Factor all that into the equation, but other West Coast standouts, Jalen Flowers, 6'2", 180 pound, safety from California was also there.
Garrick HodgeGUEST
23:05
He was very complimentary.
Garrick HodgeGUEST
23:07
It was his fourth time in Columbus and second time here for a game.
