Why five? Jakob Nielsen, UX pioneer, says that research with five people will bring out about eighty percent of the issues.

He was speaking of direct website testing in general, but in my career I found that five is the magic number.

Fewer than that, and you get conflicting information.

This has to be the thing.

And Jakob Nielsen's Usability Engineering had just come out.

It wasn't a paid field.

You had to be doing something else.

But I think it would be a combination of numbers and your personality that potentially bring me around.

Jacob Nielsen said that 90% of the platform users are just lurkers.

So they're just hanging around, not engaging.

They're just reading, not posting.
