There was a guy that the Toronto Maple Leafs traded for from the Los Angeles Kings named Jake Muzzin.

And Muzzin was a really valuable contributor with the Los Angeles Kings.

But unfortunately, his career was cut short due to injury.

I think Tanev will be what the Leafs wanted Jake Muzzin to become.

That's how important I think he is to them.

He will be for the Toronto Maple Leafs what Jake Muzzin was in Los Angeles and what Toronto expected him to be when they acquired him.

... we talked about the Tkachuk thing along, and it's not even comparable because of where the team was and what kind of guy it was, but I th- that's what ultimately pissed me off the most with that whole Tkachuk scenario, with the Muzzin thing.

So then when you throw your, you throw your young Alex Martinez and your, and your Jake Muzzins and your Tyler Defois and your Tanner Pearsons, you fire those guys into the blender with those veterans.

And all of a sudden, and you throw a Daryl Sutter behind your bench, you're shooting on all cylinders.

And you start to see that with these teams that win, with the leadership that must be in that dressing room when you look around what Florida does.

These so-called defensive defensemen are consistently hemmed into their own zone and often end up undermining the very thing they're trying to accomplish, limiting quality chances and goals against.

And so I was curious because anybody who's listened to me talk at great length about anything over the last few years will know that I am fascinated by the 2016-17 pair of Martinez and Muzzin because they had excellent performance.
