Jake Matthews

Everybody else, Matthew Bergeron, you cannot have two infractions.

Jake Matthews, Jawan Taylor, excuse me, Chris Lindstrom, if he's a go, because we now know he's in concussion protocol, but those are just egregious errors that just can't happen.

No matter which quarterback's under center, they need to be protected.

And part of the protection is We're on the same count.

But when it came to running outside or between the tackle and the guard on both the left and the right, that was what was probably most concerning about that game.

Matthews just looked like he just looked a little old, you know, like we love Jake.

But, you know, it's kind of starting to look like, you know, we've been talking about the tackle replacement plan because it's like Jawan Taylor's only here for a year.

Jake Matthews is is a legend.

But at some point, you know, that's that's going to have to be addressed.

And it looks like it's it might have to be addressed this offseason because right now just doesn't really seem to be a lot of security in the future of the tackle positions.

And it's like you can't have guys doing that.

It leads to mistakes.

It's gonna be a good match up.

It's another good match up indicator on Will Campbell because I was watching Highsmith against Jake Matthews, the f- who's still the Falcons left tackle.

Highsmith was getting into his chest and, like, shoving him around a few times.

So, um, this is gonna be another tough one.

I'm thinking about how Jake Matthews played in some of the clips I saw yesterday.

I mean, I could be convinced in the draft room to go with Jordan Seton for sure.

I kind of think that's what I'm going to do.

Jake Matthews in year 13, a clear drop-off in his play.

Obviously, edge is kind of an issue still until we see what James Pierce can do and if he can stay on the field.

Yeah, let's go Jordan Seton.

Uh, three tackles, two sacks.

Um, I thought he beat a really, really good player in Jake Matthews.

He beat him like a drum.

Like, Jake Matthews couldn't e- could not hold him.

Uh, Highsmith was just, again, all over the field, um, s- sacking, running.

Like, he was just legitimately all over the field.

Like Cooper Rush I think had to step up.

I'm not sure if it was Alex Highsmith.

Well, okay, so yeah, couple things that I was wrong about, and then we can turn the page and transition into d- talking about, uh, Patrick Graham's defense here.

Uh, I did expect a little bit better of a fight from Jake Matthews and Matthew Bergeron, who are two highly compensated players on that offensive line, along with Chris Lindstrom.

And I'm not saying that they're bad players, I just think that the Steelers' defensive line is that good, and they made them look that way.

Uh, I would expect that they'll have better days going forward than this match up against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Plenty of time to execute.

And then Jake Matthews called for a hold on first down, which killed your drive.

That was incredible.

Bijan ran out of bounds late in the first half.

Oh, gosh

... that Bergeron and Lindstrom had awful days.

Jake Matthews didn't have a good one.

But the interior, when you're getting interior push and Cooper Rush is your guy, he can't move.
