We were like, "What do we do about this?" Because the more that I was seeing, and then more people w- were sort of talking to me, there was this agent, who at the time was going by Archie Pannell, that I was discovering was actually a conman.

And so after exhausting every avenue that we could, I said, "We need to go to the press." Because by this time, I had been contacted by a lovely journalist for Deadline called Jake Kanter, because he was writing articles about, um, institutionalized abuse at drama school, basically, and, you know, mistreatment and racism and discrimination.

And he had come across-- I'm not on Twitter anymore.

I wanted to find out why the appointment took so long and what it's likely to mean for BBC News.

The best informed journalist to talk to me about this is Jake Kanter, investigations editor of Deadline, who is a former media correspondent of The Times and chair of the Broadcasting Press Guild.

Jake broke the news about the shortlist for the news job, as he has many other BBC and broadcasting stories.
