Jaguar XJR Sportscars

And then there's a deluge of IMSA GTP cars from the late 1980s, which look like Group C cars, and I'm sure there must be some commonality of parts, but to the different America-specific GTP rules.

So, for example, there's a Porsche 962 and a Jaguar XJR, but I think they're altered to match the American rule set.

And then there are the cars they competed against, which were specific to the IMSA series, so like the BMW March, and then the GTP versions of the Chevrolet Corvette and Ford Probe.

They sound like road cars, but they look like a Group C racer or IMSA... gtp of the era and then the nissan gtp uh zx turbo which is a very sleek machine for american racing

So Kevin came to the door.

I was driving, my daily driver was an XJR at the time, and Kevin came to the door and he looked at this big Jag.

"What, what, what do you, what do you want?" I said, "I wanna look at your car." So we bought this thing, and it was so incredibly loud.

[laughs] Yeah, there was a, at the old Road & Track office, like there was some, uh, old XJR that had been gifted to somebody from their aunt that had been passed to like -- It got to a point where it was like three staffers had kind of passed it one to the other being like, "Hey, we have this broken down old Jaguar.

And I, I gotta tell you something, when the guy who owned the car came out of the mall, he'd like to have a, a, a conniption.

I thought this guy was gonna crap because there was his car rolled out and sitting in the middle of the parking lot while my car had been placed very neatly in his slot.
