Can you explain what that means and how the story or song shapes to hula?
3:31
Yeah, so for us, we kind of see it as transcending space and time.
3:35
As the dancer, you become the vessel of the story.
3:38
So a lot of times you have your mele first, or my kumu used to say like the mele would find us, that whatever was meant to be shared would somehow come to us.
3:49
And so sometimes that's in a dream or certain things will keep happening and you're like, gosh, we got to share that story.
3:55
But as the dancer, you use that mele.
3:57
If you don't have much knowledge on it, you're going to dig deeper.

Is it okay or how do you feel about somebody performing hula who hasn't properly been trained or studied?
