These are really short, fast, loud, crazy, energetic hardcore punk records.

And then after this, you get bodies, um, after the blood album, you've got bodies, which is, or, you know, almost like kind of new ordery, almost kind of like robot Rocky a bit, which I think is cool.

Like, um, and then you've got the recent album um which is sort of super the mission and the cure and and that kind of and almost like the cult as well and it goes for that like that kind of 12 string way in the 80s when bands like the mission and the fields of the nephilim and those sort of bands were doing almost like let's do a goth led zeppelin right like i think that's what the new album sounds like and i love that stuff i love all three of those things but the thing from the 80s that i love the most is susan the banshees echo and the bunnymen the cure all of those bands right and and this the blood album is i think the closest thing that afi have done to doing like the unforgettable fire by u2 or doing you know ocean rain by echo and the bunnymen and i love love absolutely love the guitars on this i mean particularly i think some of the hooks are incredible but i think jade puget's guitar playing you can tell that he's really listened to like you know i've said this loads of times before on on the podcast where People like Will Sargent from Echo and the Bunnymen or John Magooch from Susie and the Banshees or Geordie Walker from Killing Joke and Johnny Marr in the Smiths.

British guitar players in the early 80s playing really weird chords, playing in a really weird way and playing this kind of like, almost like this sort of strumming it like like you watch geordie walker play and he plays a guitar like he's playing a cello do you know i mean and there's lots of stuff in this album on this album where jade puget's playing it playing these kind of plucked picked bits that just don't really sound like afi they sound like something sort of different and then davy havoc is managing to do you know that i think it's david is most kind of morrissey do you know i mean i think he's doing the most sort of morrissey sort of um howling that kind of like very melodic sort of how that and like the hooks on this are incredible i mean i think you're you're right to say um you know um white offerings is amazing but there is so many songs on here you mentioned that i'm annoyed they didn't play we didn't see them do a really because they just don't play anything from this album that much really do they they don't seem to play hardly anything from it that much I mean I would go mad next year it's 10 years this album I want to see still a stranger I want to see fucking hidden knives hidden like so you got above that bridge it's so like euphoric and fist pumping and it's got that thing that i love so much from those kind of 80s post punk bands i think snow cats is one of the all-time great afi singles i absolutely love this that song i think it's beautiful yeah and you know and there's like there's the theater like for a band who are very theatrical i think this is almost the most kind of this has got some of the most sort of the most obvious theatricality in all of their entire discography I think it's brilliant this record it's so good and I it blows my mind that there are other parts I mean you say about like what would be kind of pass the podium what would be like you know if we were doing the mount rushmore because you've got the kind of gold silver and bronze of that run from black cells to sing the sorrow what is the other thing that gets on the podium for me it's the blood album easy no question i can answer with it like straight away i think it's the fourth best afi album and that is not to kind of denigrate other stuff they've done but when people say like oh yeah it's probably december underground you know it's a number one album it's got the big hits on it i think december underground which is a good album like a really good album i think it's miles away from this like genuinely think it is a couple of places below this record the blood album's fucking awesome it's fucking awesome i just don't understand why you know and it coincided with them coming back and supporting deftones and no one really cared they played download no one really cared and it sort of coincided with all of that and it's all sort of coalesced to create this sort of thing where you go if i came back with a with an all-timer classic brilliant comeback album and we all just ignored it.

You have Jade Puget from a little band called AFI on guitar.

He also played in Redemption 87 at the end of the band, I think, after Tim Chunk's I think he replaced Timmy Chunks.
