That's it, you know, because ultimately, you know, it's an incredible book that I read, you know, like 15 years ago that kind of knocked my socks off was Jacques Philippe's Call to Life.

You know, it's at a time where I'm in my mid-20s, what I want to do, how I'm going to support family, and what's my vocation.

But I read this book, and Jacques Philippe, in only the way that he can, said, you know, our first vocation is to live.

Our first vocation is to live.

We're called to life.

Jacques Philippe, p. 47 What really hurts is not so much suffering as the fear of suffering.

If welcomed trustingly and peacefully, suffering makes us grow.

It matures and trains us, purifies us, teaches us to love unselfishly, makes us poor in heart, humble, gentle, and compassionate toward our neighbor.

Even though we know that God's will and commandments apply to everyone, we do not always have the strength to fulfill them.

Now, every time we respond faithfully to a motion of the Spirit out of desire to be docile to what God expects of us, even if it's something almost insignificant of itself, That faithfulness draws grace and strength down on us.

And the thing that's coming out in those first two, you could say with the smile, there's a mindset there and there's an action, right? Smile.

And then the love of Christ, like There's a mindset, there's a perspective that you're trying to see reality through, right? And what I think is so important when we're talking about joy in the Christian life, and this is pulling on something that I think is wonderfully expounded in Father Jacques Philippe's book called Interior Freedom.

is that these are things that no one can take from you.

And there's something really important to recognize that especially when we're talking about cultivating joy in unjoyful circumstances, which are typically because of external things, not always, but often.

And God could and didn't was basically the thrust of the argument.

There's a book called Interior Freedom by Jacques Philippe.

he says when it comes to god's will there are three possible reactions we can have so first reaction is some something difficult happens right our first reaction might be rebellion which is what this guy is going through right rebellion god has allowed something in my life that i don't like something that i that i don't want right it's your fault Where were you? Why didn't you? Why are things this way for me and why haven't you helped? Why haven't you? Why didn't you just protect me from this or prevent it from happening in the first place? And so on.

Rebellion.

but it's not great.

It's better than rebellion, and maybe it's definitely a step in the right direction, but it's done with a heavy heart or maybe with no heart at all.

So the third possible reaction that Jacques Philippe speaks about is consent.

So, Lord, if this is what you want, then I give this to you.

I was thinking of those same things.

I'm also reading Jacques Philippe's Interior Freedom.

So I also saw a lot of signs of those similar things in there.

And then last night in Adoration, I was reading about the Desert Fathers.

Um, it's gonna be this month's segment of Fighting for Freedom.

So Nathan and I are gonna be talking about Interior Freedom, a book by Jacques Philippe.

So we've talked about, in the, the months past, we've talked about abandonment and surrender to God's providence.

We've talked about, you know, um, the things that get in the way of our freedom, the things, uh, that help us get to freedom, what freedom is.

And I think this is a great month to jump into, uh, Father Jacques Philippe's book, Interior Freedom.

So I'd be curious, Nathan, I, I've never met you before.
