Jacques Martin

All right.

Um, Jacques Martin retired.

It was last week it was, I believe.

Well, last week they told us about it.

I've told it once before, Kirk.

It's around St. Paddy's weekend, and I'm in the coach's press conference after the game, Jacques Martin, and I forgot to silence my phone.

And I get a text, and it says, Kirk.

And I go, hello.

And you and Mike and Brian and T, you opened another huge market of Montreal to me.

and you know it's it's been a big part of uh of who I am in Montreal and uh I will never uh thank you enough for all of this and I'm retiring but now I will be as I used I've always been a listener attentive listener and uh I will uh I will laugh because you make me laugh even though sometimes you were really hard with me when Jacques Martin was the coach in Montreal but Hey, that's another story, and we'll be able to talk over that over a beer or two at some

point.

I hope so very soon.

And there was this – there's this resort called Nemecolin in Pennsylvania.

And Mike, he took all of his staff, Rick Tockett, Jacques Martin, all these guys, Mark Recchi.

And then he took the minor league guys too.

He took Clark Donatelli.

And let's make a playoff for the third straight year.

And we never saw that kind of since like Jacques Martin was the coach, I think.

So it's kind of a long time coming for the team to make the playoff three times in a row.

And they have a chance.

He got fired in December.

guess who came in and instilled more of a defensive mindset? Jacques Martin.

And I've talked to Drake about this and Drake has said as well that, and Jacques was a big believer in Drake, huge believer at the time.

I think Jacques had a huge role in getting Drake to play a different way when he doesn't have the puck.

We'll go play the Outaouis.

I don't think it's called the Outaouis anymore, where Jacques Martin used to have his golf tournament.

[sighs] Yeah.
