Tyrone EdwardsHOST
15:08
Sure, Emily Hampshire's perfecting her softball for the new Crave original comedy series, Slow Pitch, but she'll soon gear up to play Vanessa, the sex columnist in Heated Rivalry, reuniting with showrunner Jacob Tierney for their fifth project together.
Emily HampshireSOUNDBITE_SPEAKER
15:22
So it went to me.
Emily HampshireSOUNDBITE_SPEAKER
15:24
Jacob only works with the same people again and again.
CaroHOST
40:08
But I always felt a little weird in male male romances when it would be like they'll do fucking anything like they'll.
CaroHOST
40:15
like anything but there's no rimming until like the last 20% of the book after they're truly truly in love that's when you know that's when they actually start beating out ass and so I was like that i i have friends but i wasn't going to be like let me just start this random conversation with you sir and like ask you if you feel like that's authentic because first of all i had a feeling and second of all i was like that's not gonna happen but when jacob tierney was like no we moved up like we're not gonna have that like wait till the cottage we move that up to like the first time that they have full penetrative sex because that's what a good top does you know what i mean I was like so I felt very validated but then reading this book I was like yeah of course they didn't like wait for fucking ever like that happens pretty quickly you know what I mean like it's not for both of them that is just something that if you are a woman who wants to write romance I would say maybe consider if you were thinking about throwing that in I don't I don't understand why and I think it's weird when you compare it to romance
Alison FinchHOST
41:24
yeah
CaroHOST
41:24
because imagine if you were like we waited until the very end of the book for him to you know not that it's a perfect but like imagine for him to like eat her pussy
Liza TreygerHOST
22:44
I tr- uh, but I couldn't.
Liza TreygerHOST
22:46
So I'm in my DMs somewhere, and I see someone going, "Jacob Tierney at Brooklyn Paramount." And I rushed to the site.
Liza TreygerHOST
22:56
I g- I leaped from my bed, got on my laptop, and, um, there was one ticket available, and I do have another, like, Heated Rivalry fan in my life.
Liza TreygerHOST
23:06
So I try to buy two tickets.
AlHOST
7:37
Where, where did it start?
MichelleGUEST
7:39
Well, because of Jacob Tierney, of course I was curious about the show.
MichelleGUEST
7:42
I knew it would be good because he's a genius.
MichelleGUEST
7:45
Um, and I've, I've t- you know, seen a bunch of his movies in addition to Letterkenny and Shoresy.

MattHOST
91:35
... um, but just based on the research, um, that I, that I quickly did, uh, while watching the episode earlier today.
MattHOST
91:41
Um, and then what was more interesting, and, and I, and I applaud them for this.
MattHOST
91:45
I guess there was an interview that they did, um, the two of them with Jacob Tierney with, uh, Extra Magazine or something like that.
MattHOST
91:52
Um, and when the guys were asked about how they identify, Tierney's the one who jumped in right away and basically said, you know, "It's irrelevant." Like, what, what is their...
Mitch ChuriHOST
17:29
for her son to be in a gay Canadian hockey show? No, no, no, sorry.
Grace GardeHOST
17:33
It was in response to the question, has Jacob Tierney reached out to put your music in heated rivalry season two? That
Mitch ChuriHOST
17:40
grabs that.
Mitch ChuriHOST
17:40
She's like, I'd love him to be railed by another hot hockey player when he comes of age, of course.
Matt PalmerHOST
42:54
And so they're asking like, Oh, has anyone reached out to you about that? And she was like, no, no one's reached out to me about it, but it would be a dream for me to be a part of it.
Matt PalmerHOST
43:01
So, I mean, if this is, you know, I'm sure it's not completely, but if naming the child Ilya and getting some headlines is just a reminder to like, you know, Mr. Jacob Tierney.
Matt SteeleHOST
43:10
Like,
Matt PalmerHOST
43:10
I'd like to be involved.
MalHOST
9:57
Because
CamilleHOST
9:57
he's like a friend of Jacob Tierney.
CamilleHOST
9:59
Like they were roommates at one point.
CamilleHOST
10:01
Oh

48 MINS LATER

CamilleHOST
58:07
Maybe we will.
CamilleHOST
58:08
Maybe we have to because every guy has to have his lady cast.
RobertHOST
58:12
I'm suing Jacob Tierney right now for not including women in his show.
CamilleHOST
58:15
We might see Harris' sisters.
JenGUEST
3:54
Not that there weren't complex things in heated rivalry, but let's be real, the sex takes you through that story.
JenGUEST
4:01
It's only upon rereading and rereading Heated Rivalry that I notice all the layers in that story that through the TV show, I think Jacob Tierney picked up right away and put out there.
JenGUEST
4:13
If I had just read Heated Rivalry without the background of the show, I might not have picked up on those either and maybe thought it was along the lines of Game Changer as well.
JenGUEST
4:23
And with Tough Guy, it really is like hitting the brakes, even though this is a shorter book, even though it feels like we take so long to get to things, it still is moving relatively quickly.
DeclanHOST
7:43
um and i think you do get a lot more criticism of hockey culture in this book that i think is appropriate because the first two only really went into on like a surface level of like homophobia but this one is like toxic masculinity it's how the violence in hockey is is portrayed and celebrated and how so many queer people are discouraged away from sports in general as a result of that but yeah I think in general she's just talking about bigger better things than what she did with the previous couple of books which were very much centered around the relationships only whereas this one is taking like a broader approach to different topics I think in particular she is sort of taking the reins with themes of mental health a lot more seriously in this one
JenGUEST
8:36
because
DeclanHOST
8:36
I think in the previous book there are hints of Shane maybe being a little OCD maybe a little bit of autism in there but it's very subtle now Jacob Tierney doesn't make it subtle whenever well he does and he doesn't and I think that really lends a lot more weight to this story I think I'm more invested in Ryan as a character less so than I am in his relationship does that make sense
JenGUEST
9:03
Yeah.
Antonio Michael DowningHOST
3:09
I mean, winning.
Nadine BhabhaGUEST
3:10
And you wanna know what's so cute, and I think I talked about this last time, is Jacob Tierney and Brandon Brady, I met them on Letterkenny.
Antonio Michael DowningHOST
3:17
Right.
Nadine BhabhaGUEST
3:17
And I met these ladies on Letterkenny too.
