This is the way to get these guys conditioned.

You don't want them to get hurt, but you also want them to be ready for when you get into Big 12 play, we're going to have the corners out there all the time because if you look on offense, you know think of how many times you saw a receiver that wasn't one of the top three on Saturday you didn't yeah Isaiah Williams I think got one or two snaps in the first half maybe you just won but outside of that like Adonis Moise wasn't in until Jacob Knuth was in same for Derek Sally Isaiah Williams during Lockett they split a little bit of time at that point um so if you go and look you there were five players that played every meaningful offensive snap on Saturday.

So there were 69 of them.

Who would you rather have as your quarterback the rest of the year, okay? Starting quarterback.

I'd actually... doing the Canute thing and just going QB power because the kid can play or the kid can run a little bit.

So Ryan Howard, Gus Hawkins, Dylan Villarreal, Geron Tibbs, and Avery Johnson, those five played every snap on Saturday for the starters.

because then we know that Jacob Knuth got in for a little bit Josh Manning 67 and then you get Charlie Adams Keaton Jones at 44 and then you get to the clearly defined hey group of these guys are going to play for us we trust them they're in the mix and that would be All the tight ends, they range from Lincoln Cure's 30 to Garrett Oakley's 40 and then Will Ancio in between.

Joe Jackson and Rodney Fields in that same neighborhood.

And then Tanner Morley was at the bottom of that.

But then you drop down.

The only time that K-State got past those top three receivers on the field for them was once they went into, okay, garbage time mode and Jacob Knuth was out there because that's when we saw six for Derek Sally, six for Adonis Moise, four for Isaiah Williams, three for Sterling Lockett, and even Jay Harris only got six snaps on Saturday.

So I think that this might be one of the things that we have to do a better job of assessing is that this may not be a, like, hey, we're – they are a little concerned about corner depth clearly, but this is just what they are, where you are the guys we are going to roll with you.

I think it helps set a tone.

So if he can clean that sort of stuff up, especially before we get to Cincinnati, especially before Houston comes to town, especially before you get that rivalry game with KU, again, I think we could be setting ourselves up for a really fun season.

The one thing I will note is Blake Barnett did not suit up.

He was not practicing, uh, or he was not warming up.

I don't know.

But they need to at least kinda have an idea of what's going on there.

So shout out to Jac- Jacob Knuth.

I also don't want him to make a tackle, period, because that's a good way for your quarterback to get hurt.

And, I mean, as we saw today, Jacob Knuth was literally the only other quarterback suited up.

I mean, Fan was a couple snaps away from having to go out there and play quarterback.

Yeah, for sure.

Monterio Elston had a touchdown.

Avery Johnson, Jacob Knuth, six guys had rushing touchdowns in this game.

And suddenly you just kind of look at that running back room and you have to say, wow, this is extremely deep with the talent that they have.

Defensively, K-State held Nichols to just 30 passing yards and forced them into eight three and outs.

I was really interested to watch Blake Barnett because he played last year, but a lot of folks don't realize last week was his first collegiate pass.

Fitz, he played in at least four three or four games but he didn't throw a pass last year and his first pass was on saturday night and um i think you know i think you maybe said it on the on the questions podcast i think people are being a little too harsh on barnett you know because he kind of fell on his face after his first play i'm sure he was incredibly excited um but i thought he commanded the offense pretty well i thought jacob knuth looked good as well i think that barnett going in first was pretty telling And I was honestly, I was a little surprised.

I thought they would give the nod to the senior, you know, to the fifth year guy and say, you've been working hard.

You're going to get a majority of the reps, but no, they went to Barnett.

But he played pretty well.

Jacob Knuth, I see people talking about him being a bulldozer type guy that can come in at the goal line and just push it in, which I would agree with.

That's not a bad idea, particularly if it's right on the one foot line, you're sneaking it.
