There's another thing that they play in Ireland called hornpipes, and that would be kind of a similar tempo, where the highland is different.

I always love this joke by Jackie Daly.

and he said, all a Highland is is only a hornpipe with the hiccups.

So it's got this thing, this musical feature called a Scott snap.

And so the tunes that you've composed, would you ever play those in the session or would you keep them for maybe a performance or something or stage or...

some of them I have performed some of them they're very simple I wrote one for my dad Planksy John Hanrahan and people are great like I was playing with Conor Keane a lot and he writes an awful lot of fabulous music and then I played my little piece for him and he really was encouraging you need that bit of encouragement and then he'd start playing maybe a long bass note to give me the confidence to play it in one sense and to play along with me as well the sharing thing and it was lovely actually we were in Middletown playing myself and Connor and Louise my sister and he said play that piece you wrote for your dad Joan it was lovely so I played it and then Jackie Daly was sitting and Jackie came over and he said to me that's not finished And Conor, it was funny, Conor said, no, Jackie, that was written for her dad.

It's fine.

And he said, no.
