Close your eyes and picture Scotland 170 million years ago.

There are no heather-clad glens or familiar island skylines.

He discovers his first fossil, a gorgeous ammonite, which are one of these coiled-shelled relatives of modern-day squid and octopus, not far from Ithi, which is just a few miles south of Cromarty on the Black Isle.

And he describes smashing open the rock with his hammer and describing this beautiful carved piece of nature.

Yeah, so Ja- Jackie Bird is a longstanding, um, BBC Scotland news presenter, and I was, we were chatting with Stuart Mitchell saying, you know, um, anybody south of the border might not know that whenever we read that, we automatically thought of the news presenter.

And then John, you came on later and went, "It is the news presenter."
