yeah i mean it's a great thought and it's an accurate thought we've been doing this for years and years i'll go back to you know the 90s with steve spurrier you just you look for these coaches that don't care to get off the gas pedal no matter what the score is keep a notebook with these guys um because it does make a difference and there's some offenses to the um question here i think Jack Pardee, when the year Andre Ware won the Heisman Trophy, I believe that's like 1989, something like that.

But Jack Pardee and that run and shoot offense, if you play that style, you can't stop.

It's not like, oh, we're up by 50.

Now we're just going to run the clock out.

Lundy, the oldest man in service in Ram history now in his 11th year.

He was the only man over 10 years as a Los Angeles Ram until this season when Jack Pardee logged his 10th season.

And so I lived, I, I, when I was a child up until the time I was about 12 years old, I lived in Charlottesville, Virginia.

And so, you know, that was, uh, like the first year I remember rooting for was, uh, was when Jack Pardee was the coach.

Wow.

But then, uh, Joe Gibbs took over right after Pardee.

That was the run and shoot.

That was Mouse Davis and Jack Pardee and those coaches that just did that.

And, you know, Jim...

You know, I've always loved him as a player.

I think if you had asked me that question and we weren't talking about Ken Houston, I think my immediate answer would have been Billy Kilmer.

And I probably would have even said somebody like... you know, Jack Pardee or, you know, acquiring, you know, Richie Pettibone.

I mean, there were so many defensive players on that 71 team that came with him from L.A., obviously the Rams that came with him, and then, you know, acquiring Pettibone.

But, no, the Houston trade is phenomenal.

But then, okay, we'll keep going.

I would have said Andre Ware, David Klingler, and Jack Pardee maybe.

It's a pretty interesting history, isn't it, Ryan? And it sounds like your articles and the stories that you do encompass a lot of it.

What are the big picture stuff in Houston football, even up to the present, if you could just kind of frame it that way, some of the big names and teams and personalities there through the years?

He knows of Bill Yeoman.

And he knows of Jack Pardee and John Jenkins.

Ted Pardee will join us tomorrow, as will Morgan Uber.

I'm still hoping to hear from Andre Ware.

I look forward to visiting with him.

I can tell, as an alum of Houston, that his site is filled with all sorts of interesting stories.

And he probably could speak to us of Jack Pardee, a former head coach at Houston, and of Andre Ware and David Klingler.

Klingler, I think, against Eastern Washington, did he not? Do any of you remember an 84-point game in which Klingler threw 11 touchdown passes? I think Eastern Washington folks probably remember that a little bit, too.

And we have been talking about what I suppose is the antithesis of life and have been somewhat overwhelmed by it of late, as we talked briefly about yesterday from the Jack and Ginny Wilborn media room.

And we haven't, this is the first time I've been able to be in studio since the very sad news of of the passing of Daryl, and we have also been touching on with you and others about Dave Cragthorpe, about Gene Riley, about Gerald Vickers.

In that respect, it's hit us all from a lot of different directions and pretty hard.

I've not been able to really receive any phone calls.

Some of you did call.

We've been on remote location both at Highland Bowl and then yesterday from the Jack and Jenny Wilborn media room with Jamarcus Shepard, Mitch Dolan, and Mike McIntyre getting ready for the Beavers at Houston this Saturday.

And we have a number of guests coming on the Houston front, including the radio analyst, the son of the late, great Jack Pardee, Ted Pardee, whose father, Jack, was a legendary linebacker for the Rams and Redskins and former NFL head coach.
