um which is opening thought wise really enjoy skyfall this is always like casino royale has a certain energy about it that is really infectious but this one feels like the most complete meal i would say from the group um it works

definitely i think for anyone who wasn't around or wasn't sort of within not even the no but sort of at the culture at the time I mean, you had a string of very successful Transformers movies that were making really big money.

And Bond was on ice for four years.

From 2008 to 2012, they had serious monetary issues.

And I remember for the longest time, because between the four years, that's my high school experience.

So I didn't have a Bond film in high school.

Then all of a sudden, the Marvel movies hit.

Is there anything left in Skyfall that you specifically wanted to get into and discuss?

Um, let me know your history with it and what your opening thoughts are for The Living Daylights.

Well, I, I, I love this film, and I, and I really like Licence to Kill, and there's a certain terminology, uh, or, and a certain buzzword that gets with these two films, and it's they're dark.

They're very dark.

They're very brooding.

They're a lot less lighter than what came before it, and there's a l- especially with Roger Moore on, on, on, on the end of A, A View to a Kill.

But in the same token, I th- and w- you said the beginning there, I think every single point you made there is generally every single point I, I was gonna make throughout this podcast.

There's so much depending on this film.

I mean, to this day, I think it holds up, um, as probably one of the more, like, engrossing Bond films when it comes to the actual conflict on screen.

Yeah, I know this is going to be shocking there.

It's interesting.

I don't really like the early Roger Moore Bond works, and I'm not too sure why.

It would be interesting to get through on this, because I've just been logging my Bonds I did in January, because I'm that far behind.

I watched a lot of them on 35mm.

So we spoke about a few of them, and then hopefully we're going to speak about a few of them.

I'm certainly never like overly angry with it outside of the American character, who again is just horrific.

I really came away with a lot of respect for this one.

Yeah.

I mean, there's, there's a, there's, There's two, I would say, if you were going to talk about the canon with James Bond, I think if there's two or three films And again, I'm going to talk for the fan base in general here.

There's probably two or three films that people would pick as the top tier, and I can name them here.

I don't know what the third one would be necessarily, but I can name the top two.

This one and Casino Royale.

And I think someone would probably say maybe an early Connor, maybe go from A Show of Love.

um for me that balances a little bit off but those would be really like the big complaints i have with it i think this is a film that really does like hold up

And just it was very clear that is this going to end well for her? Yeah, it didn't land for me, I think, in the same way.

Yeah, I mean, let's talk about the actual activism because I think that's a good thing to start on.

The thing about Angus Cloud is Angus Cloud's character wouldn't be prevalent in this show regardless.

He would have been the background.

He would have probably been a third party to Rue where Rue would have gone to visit him in prison and he would have probably told quite enlightening things and how he would probably look up to her, although, you know, stuff like that.

And then she's a mess in her own words.

And I think it's that difficulty where you have people who look up to you or see you as a friend and you feel like shit and you feel like a failure.

Yeah.

It's interesting because

Like I said, I really like Bond.

I get a bit too much into it at certain points.

I quite like the fashion in it.

Again, Bond's not typically a fashion type of icon.

But I think as a man...

I think there's very few films you can watch and, um, and find something like not, not necessarily accessible because it's not necessarily affordable either.
