Jack, take us back to 1964 and your initial connection with Dolly Parton.

Oh, yes.

You know, I didn't even know who Dolly Parton was in 1964.

It wasn't until years later I found out that's the year she actually graduated high school.

But late summer 1964, I'm not quite... 12 years old, I go with my family on a family vacation to Bozeman, Montana.

And while we were there, everybody said, oh, you got to go to the Montana State Fair, which we did.

Reporter Jack Hardy sat through seven weeks of evidence.

Ian Stewart had spent quite a substantial amount of his evidence trying to be liked by the jury.

He tried to crack jokes, he tried to paint a picture of him and Helen as a couple who were hopelessly in love.

They had all these maudlin tales about how they fell into each other's arms when they first met and how he always missed her and how he'd always loved her.

He would realise that he had to look as though he was upset.

So he'd put his hands down, he'd appear to shake, but then his head would come up and his eyes would appear to be dry.

There was no evidence he'd actually been crying.
