He's been superseded by guys that are in the NFL.

What are you supposed to say when the three guys before you, whether it was JT Sander, Gunner Helm, or Jack Endries, goes to the NFL, you know? So all you can do is put your head down and go to work.

And then Texas recruits a guy like Nick Townsend, who's uber talented frankly.

Yeah.

It's huge.

I would have loved to have Jack Endries on that 7U Bengals team.

I'm just saying that might have got us across the finish line.

But Arch didn't really use the tight end as much last year as what you saw with Quinn Ewers and Sark in the past.

Xavion Thomas, he's got TD upside, boom and bust appeal.

This rookie, he is so damn fast.

I still question his hands overall, but Ben Johnson's already got, like, scheme plays for days to get Xavion involved.

That speed is just far too electric and game-breaking.

Andre Yosef Ashman, high-level wrist, not touching it this week, and Drew Sample until they figure out who should be the tight end here, whether it's Sample or Mike Gusecki.

Sample just right now on the top of the depth chart, so I predict that this is going to change.

I do like the rookie they drafted, Jack Endries, from that Texas Longhorn team, but we probably have to wait a couple years before he finds his way onto the field.

If this offense is going to evolve, it probably obviously starts with Joe, Zach.

There's a bunch of people ahead of Eric Hall, but part of it's going to be Eric Hall stayed healthy or Jack Endries emerged as a guy that can block and pass catch.

Eric Hall is the first guy in line, and there's a reason in line.

He can line up in line and still matter as a pass catcher as well.

Uh, look, the, the tight end spot in its entirety has been, you know, [laughs] these, these guys have been treated like kings with Quinn Ewers, right? A year ago, obviously you didn't see that with Jack Endries and Arch Manning, but you need to have some sort of threat in that tight end room, and we've obviously seen the willingness from Townsend as a very young tight end to go hit somebody that's probably got 70 pounds on him.

That, that's not easy to do.

You either have that ability early or you do not.

But I looked at 45 targets from Jack Endries a year ago.

That's fewer than all of the receptions that Ja'Tavion Sanders had, that Gunner Helm had over the last three seasons prior to injuries.

Do we see a tight end get back to those numbers? Probably not.

Jerry, it's interesting because I think a lot of people would look at that number of 47 and say, "Okay, well, Texas does have access to resources, and they're working the transfer portal." But I kind of like the balance because if you look at this last draft class, for instance, uh, you've got a nice mix.

Uh, you, you've got Jack Endries from the portal, but you know, Anthony Hill was a homegrown prospect.
