yeah yeah big time and and like i do appreciate at least to me at this very early stage like a lot of the lyrics just seem to be straight nonsense on most of these songs and like i'm just so enthralled by what the music sounds like that that i haven't even begun to parse through the lyrics except for um you were right because uh that song that song's just so cool and i just love what that what doug did in the sense where he's like you were wrong and then he just like he just like tags and name drops a bunch of songs that have like positive lyrics um and then he's like you were right when you said and it's just all of these negative things like he he's like we've got um you can't always get what you want by the stones there's some there's uh Hard Rain's Gonna Fall by Dylan.

There's some John Mellencamp, Jack and Diane.

He mentions Dust in the Wind by Kansas.

He mentions Against the Wind by Bob Seger.

Jack dreams of becoming a football star while Diane is introduced as the debutante beside him.

The artist originally imagined their story very differently.

This one-minute demo captures the song while it was still taking shape.

A familiar guitar figure is already there, but the chorus remains unfinished, and the production ideas that would eventually carry it to number one had not arrived yet.
