How did mom feel about your aspirations to be an artist?

She didn't love it.

Who loves that? It's hip-hop.

It's not like I'm saying mom will be the next Luther Vandross or something or Michael Jackson.

I'm saying I'm going to be the next... you know, Big Daddy Kane, Eric B, LL Cool J, guys that she probably never heard of at that moment in time, you know? So it was a very different conversation, especially with my grandparents, my grandfather, who, like I said, he was a great provider.

He had two jobs, three jobs, whatever he had to do.

And he's always joking, he's like, you didn't make no money doing that hippity-beep-bop music.

I mean, I assume some of these songs that went, I will say viral in today's, but it wasn't viral, but the ones that were like instant hits, you knew you must have walked out of that studio and said, this is going to the moon.

Do you miss that part? 'Cause you haven't really done a lot of that.

I do.

I, I, I miss, you know, um, I miss creating in that space.

Um, because for me, like I said, it's all about cr- creativity.

It's all, it's all about being creative.

And with music, I get to do that.

I get to create, you know, the, the stories that you hear over the music.
